A gross misuse of funds IMO, sorry. His upside just isn't there for me to warrant that kind of contract. - LeftCoaster
It's like Thunda said, if he had a couple of hundred thousand he would invest in oil. He would take a beating this year but after it would be worth it. I would feel less secure spending 7 mil on Buff for seven years that taking 6 mil and spending it on an up and coming Dman.
The alternative is wait four years to home grow one |

I'm jealous, restore it if you can afford to. Are you interested in selling - Makita
That is the question I am facing this spring is can I afford to do it?

He is a very good Dman. You won't find a third year Dman that you do think is worth 6 mil, but they will be - VANTEL
Trouba or Dumba would be best. If we OS a Dman I would rather it be a RHD. Dumba will be easier to OS as Minies big contracts are all NMC or not worth moving. Jets have more space to match. Mini will be able to match as well, but then they have shot themselves in the foot capwise for several years, with Coyle, Granlund, and Neiderieter needing to be resigned the year after with Coyle and Neid needing raises. |

Yep I'd be more comfortable gambling 6 on dumba....but where we are in the rebuild....not comfortable giving up 6mil a first , second and third round pick for him. |

I get the concept, and agree, I just don't have a lot of faith in Dumba. I've read some bad scouting reports on his ability to process the game. |

Jets are faced with a lot of questions in the next few weeks. They can't afford Byf Ladd and Trouba. The vultures are circling. They are also a self imposed cap team |

I shouldn't have mentioned him specifically. It is the concept find the best RFA Dman and offer sheet him instead of Buff or Yandle |

Chevys made some good picks over his five year tenure but they're not gonna have any success until they draft that elusive #1 center or build thru the middle. |

Exactly , you can wait 4-5 years to draft that type and develop him. |

I would OS Trouba at 6.5xmax you can OS for(isn't it 4 years?) to try and buy him. i'd give that up as I think we won't be bottom feeding next year. Our youth are starting to emerge as contributing, effective, and competitive players.

An asset would be draft picks or a player with term still on a deal. Yandle would not be an asset....ufa = no club control, walks for nothing. Sorry I'd rather move hammer for picks and try an resign him super cheap. - Bullfrog77
Would you rather resign yandle or Hamhuis? They will get within a million of one another on the open market.
And keep Edler I guess? I didn't expect that from you. |

You're missing the point....they are both UFA's. Neither may resign with you. But a draft pick you keep...no matter where they sign. |
