think we can pull of a trade and then return out of mcginn like he-who-must-not-be-named---named-moulson? - RhinoFan
With the cap probably staying put or going down im not sure id even want him back. You can probably find someone for half the cost and wind up with similar production, especially if the top 6 gets better. Heck, may even wind up giving Fasching that spot. |

Yeah on WGR yesterday, GMTM said he thought Fasching could make the jump straight to the pros. Others disagreed with this, I'm up in the air as I just don't know enough to say. But yeah that could be very interesting especially if the slot that actually opens up is bottom 6. |

Anyone here own a time machine. That way we could go back in time before Myers would was traded and we could all be happy. Might as well go back to before Darcy. We all cried because he would not make moves . When we get a new GM and he does the whining just continues. People take this GAME far too seriously.

And no one is ever ready for a tank wagon, but none shall be ridden along this dusty trail. We are onto the building up not crashing down phase. The Ducks though...they may very well need a good tank or two. - RhinoFan
That 3rd goal allowed by Lehner was Terrible last night - too bad cuz he was solid before that. I read somewhere that he gives up more of those long soft goals than any other goalie. I was impressed with him before that, but the 3rd goal is one that can never go in. Not sure why everyone is so high on mccabe? He makes one of two why? Plays each night. Pysysk plays pretty much mistake free and is a possession freak. We'll never win a game when O'Reilly plays as bad as he did last night. He has been outstanding but was lousy last night. He single-handedly caused the 2nd crucial goal by losing the draw then screening Lehner. |

I think despite that he's got a bit more offensive upside and he's a few years younger. Could argue that in a few years he'll surpass what pysyk is now. |

Pysyk is probably the least flashy player ever. I mean I love his style, but you would never go to a game and say "Look at that Pysyk guy he is an animal, he's everywhere!" just a lot of "nice plays" IMO. McCabe though I am very high on as well and it's due to the better flashes I saw at the beginning of the year he looks shaken slightly now. I think he can be a Top 4 guy. |

Great, if true, but that sounds like an awful lot of wishful thinking. If I recall correctly most people had him at 3-4 years away at this time last year. That's a heck of a lot of development in a short period. |

Seems to me the NHL is a "system" game. Often boring, but effective if the system of any given coach is tailored to the personnell on hand and executed properly. Once in a while a non-system coach comes along, like Ted Nolan. I think back to Ted's last stint and if we had better personnel what would be accomplished. If, hypothetcally, Bylsma coached like Nolan for the rest of the year, would we play any better? I think it would be far more entertaining with the players we have now, but would it result in more wins? I doubt it, and that's a shame.
I think opening the game up and a less structured approach was how the first 20 games was played this year, and while it was more fun to watch than, say, last night, we still lost most of our games. I guess we're stuck with system hockey, but if we're going to be a sub-500 team I'd like to see more freewheeling, fun play.
Sorry for messing up the page earlier. I need help getting images into a post.

Plus if you gave up McNabb, Parker and 2 2nd round picks, you'd have to be hoping he could be the exception. Stripes77 said his skating improved a lot and he is a big guy, but stripes agreed with you that it was only wishful thinking and most likely bogus. IMO if it's bottom 6 wing though it is easier than say a top line or center position to adjust to. |

So putting an image on my post seems to be impossible om my Mac...any tips?
PC so easy! - LandlordTom
Not very hard.
Right click on image, select "copy image", paste into whatever, highlight, click on "Img" button and voila! You have a picture of Thomas Vanek poopting his pants.
Edit: Were you selecting "copy image address"? If so, that's the problem. You just want to select "copy image" |

I know the Canadian dollar absolutely sucks, but just like a month ago at the GM meetngs Bettman told the GMs to expect a $3 million increase. I don't know where everyone is getting this decrease from. Any links? Or just wild speculation? I'm not singling you out, I've just read this a bunch over the last week on here, but haven't actually seen any evidence. |

I really see Fashing as a guy who will be like McGinn. A big body winger who is a great fit on the 3rd line but won't hurt if slotted up into the 2nd. I just don't see the kid as a permeant top 6 who nets 25 goals a year. I hope I'm wrong, though. |

It was a weird goal to be sure, he had Reinhart in his face and then just opened up a little too much, and it looked like it went off his paddle and then five-hole, but either way, gotta keep the paddle down. |

It's a double edge sword. Having a G.M. who sit back and does nothing to improve a struggling team is extremely annoying to any fan, but a G.M. who's willing to roll the dice and yet maybe not truly think thing through, maybe even worse. How many G.M.s are out there that are the best of both worlds? |

It's just discussion and criticism. It's midway through the season, people have the right to criticize a 29th place team after finishing last the previous two years. Especially after we were promised "that chapter is over."
Are most enjoying watching Eichel, Reinhart, Risto, ROR, etc.? Yes. But knowing Moulson's, Gorges', Bogosian's, etc. cap hits are going to hurt this team's chances at acquiring great players in the near future is worthy of discussion. |

They are looking at what it will do for the Canadian economy to do this . I warned about this two years ago and people said I did not know what I was talking about . It is killing my exports to Canada. If you are interested in the subject best Source is the Globe and Mail. Current calculations were actually based on 73 cent cdn dollar . At current value we will be lucky if it stays around 70 million. |

Well, way to go Canada, pegging your currency to a (frank)ing commodity! That's like the US basing the dollar off of the price of corn.
The Canadian dollar was already in free fall at the time of the meetings, so until I see something else from the league I'm not going to be all doom and gloom about a contraction of the cap. I don't see the upside of Bettman lying about the cap going up. There's nothing to gain, I know Canadians love hockey, but I highly doubt the NHL has any effect whatsoever on the Canadian dollar in terms of what the salary cap might or might not be. It's not like they're manipulating interest rates to control inflation. |

He didn't lie though, at the time the canadian dollar was still at a point where a minimal increase was still possible. Now? not so much. Though a lot will depend on what happens in the next half year. |
