Like a one-afternoon read but I just love the way he has such a humble lunch pail attitude and how he played so far above his station in life. - FlyersFirst
I'll probably take it on vacation. Especially if we head to OBX. |

This game is much like the Ranger game. Pens are outplaying the Blues, but St Louis is converting every opportunity.
3rd goal a bouncing puck landed flat after Ian Cole missed in just in time for Brouwer to bury it, and the 4th goal was off a good defensive play by the Pens and Stastny read it perfectly and made a great play & shot.
Pens now have an empty net with 3 mins left - Jsaquella

It's amazing they haven't played yet. Hockey season doesn't feel right without a Pens loss to the Flyers where they throw tantrums |

Every game the Flyers march up to their table and eat their lunch. It's (frank)ing great. |

My question for you, and a very important one.
Read that you were hitting on a woman during warm-ups? How did that go!

More than halfway through the season and with 2 games in hand, the Flyers are within 1 point of the Pens. And with 3 games in hand they are 2 points away from Montreal and the 2nd wildcard spot. Whodathunkit? |

Mid season dip. Those teams will rebound. 10 points ahead of the Jackets. Currently picking 9th.

Honestly, regardless of promises, I think it's out of our hands. If Vinny finishes strong, LA wants to keep him, should he retire after being forced out of Philly over a meaningless pinky swear? He's a LA King. We wanted to force him out of hockey. |

It will be interesting to see what happens at the end of the season. But nobody was trying to force him out of hockey, just off the Flyers. |

I don't get why people are surprised he's scoring a couple goals on the PP. We all know he can score, he still has good hands. He went on a tear win VDV and PEB last year before cooling. However, it's everything else that can't be covered up at evens. He's still the same player he was here. His even strength minutes have been for the most part fourth line, and he's getting blasted in possession still on the best possession team in hockey. But it isn't as if he can't put some goals in with Pp and soft usage. |

I would do 5 years - PhillySportsGuy
Regarding Byfuglien, 5 years is a lot for an overweight dude who plays the physical game. He is 30. Odds are that the tolls of his game style and his weight will catch up with him (likely in his back or his knees) somewhere during that contract. I've seen that movie too many times in Philly.

I'm coming around to this. They have borderline talent, but I think Hakstol has them doing the right things.
With this talent, who would have thought they'd get 3 points out of this weekend?
Not me. I don't think they'll go far, but I think they'll scare the poop out of whoever they play. |

If LA wants to keep him and he wants to play, great. $2.25mm in dead cap is better than the buy out hit or being forced to carry him on the roster. Either way it's win-win.
The Flyers get cap help, Vinny gets to play. Of course, despite 3 points in 5 games, Vinny hasn't played that well. He's been bad in every possession metric, and almost every one of his teammates has worse possession numbers with Lecavalier than without him. He's playing a mostly shielded role, getting around 57% OZ starts.
He's still got good hands, he's still got smarts, but like his hot streaks as a Flyer, his productive start as a King is probably not going to last. If it does, great for him and for LA. The Flyers still benefit, just not as much as they would have if he retired. I just doubt the Kings want him to stick around, even if he does sustain his productivity. They're hurting for cap room. in the future, especially after the Kopitar extension. |
