Packed em all towards the end of the season knowing both teams would be scratching for a playoff spot and the games would be absolute battles.

Yeah, I'm giving those NHL schedulers a lot of credit.

Oh, they are gonna be battles. Just odd that the teams haven't even played before New Years, y'know?

... Lombardi is in dangerous waters cap wise.

Outside of Vinny, they at least have players that other teams might want (Stanley Cup pedigree and all), even if they're overpaid/under-performing. I bet there's some GM out there that still believes Dustin Brown can still turn it around, or something.

Brown is potentially the worst contract in hockey not including players that are half or fully done (Clowe, Horton, Vinny (!) etc.). While I could see him traded for another terrible contract (aka AMAC like) I just don't see him being a positive asset at this time.

Part of being a top team for a long as the Kings have been, is being up tight against the cap. It's part of the deal, and it's part of what the cap is all about. There are so many ways to deal with it. The Kings will be fine, and they'll make the moves they need to make.

That doesnt mean they will continue to be a top team though. They have a good enough core that it is certainly possible, but he will have to navigate out of it well in order to keep his job

Honestly, regardless of promises, I think it's out of our hands. If Vinny finishes strong, LA wants to keep him, should he retire after being forced out of Philly over a meaningless pinky swear? He's a LA King. We wanted to force him out of hockey.

If he comes back next year, I'll still happily enjoy the $2.25M cap savings we get on him.

Nothing lasts forever, but they still have that key core together of Kopitar, Doughty, Carter, Muzzin, and Quick to build around. Along with some other good players. Sounds familiar.

They'll have to make moves just like Chicago has done. All if it is expected and it is part of what the Cap is supposed to do.

How the hell could that be a delay of game Ed. It's a shot at the net and the goalie got it with the stick. Wasn't shot.
