See, I don't like Jones. He's OK, but nothing special, IMO.
I love Boucher. I think he's going to get a national job. - Jsaquella
I think Jones does a great job at explaining things as straight forward as possible. He also has a bit of snark to him. If anything he is a bit monotone, but I really like what he brings.
Whites got a better chance of hitting powerball than avoiding a suspension - Just5
It was very similar to the hit he laid on poor old Kent Huskins three years ago, except he didn't catch the chin so cleanly.
I like White overall, but it was a stupid, unnecessary hit. And the PK is better when Hakstol can't use him because he's not good at it. Laughton's lack of PK time recently has been very strange, because he's already better at it than White.
You are correct: I absolutely have seen accidental contact get called for a penalty. I have, so you are correct.
However, I have NEVER seen it when the player never entered the crease, or wasn't in the crease. When I have seen it called, it was always something I could fathom, even when I didn't agree, because the player interaction with the goalie was either in the crease or while he was passing through it.
That's the part that infuriates me: Simmonds never was in the crease. I understand you can still be penalized outside of the crease if it's intentional contact, but what we saw last night...wow. Deep breath. Because it is over, the Flyers won. But (frank) me, that's a bad (frank)ing call on the penalty, and I am just glad it didn't prove costly - AllInForFlyers
If you read the rules, it's about whether the goaltender is positioned inside, or outside of the crease that is most important. I don't think there is any doubt that the contact wasn't intentional, but I think that's how it would be called the majority of times. I think the refs are directed to call it that way.

I do like Jones.
Miller/Ferraro are the best in the business, and I keep hoping that Miller somehow becomes NBC's lead guy when Emerick goes. TSN losing Canada's national rights for basically forever...I can dream

Simmonds should have just pulled a Lucic and steamrolled Mrazek, as there was no call when Lucic ran Miller outside of the crease. Sure, you can run him as hard as you want, but God forbid you accidentally tap him.

Ha! Exactly
But on another note: Tomorrow's game. I know you have to be wary of a letdown, but personally, I hope they come out like a pack of starving dogs, given how close they are to playoff position
The Leafs are just not good right now. JVR is out, some of the bit role players who were overachieving are playing like anyone would expect
This is a team you have to jump all over. This has to happen.

Please let it happen - AllInForFlyers
Yeah they need to come out on fire and really bring it hard to Toronto. No let down, no looking past the Leafs, just come out and TCB
the other replay angles do show the contact with the head better. it's hard to tell if he pulls to the right on his own after the contact or if his head really turns due to the contact itself. i get the call....ok...but i don't agree with it at all....certainly not the penalty to simmonds. that's (frank)ing absurd. - hammarby31
I didn't hate that call as much as I hated the scramble in front that Simmer buried. The puck was loose the whole time.
Thanks Bill. I hope that Schenn is ok, since he has been playing well of late. I don't like that Simmer had both the goal disallowed, and the penalty called since it seemed to be incidental contact. If someone's butt gets the penalty from jumping up, and down, then why wasn't the glove hit on Neuvy called? Just sayin'.
White's suspension will allow someone else to fill in. Dare is say, the new guy? Or maybe CMcD?
Man, the Flyers could use the Red Wings as the school on learning how to pass the puck. In addition, the gap between the forwards, and D was horrible. How can you sit, and watch the D struggle against all three forwards of the Wings? Hmmm...I'll just sit at the blue line, or red line waiting for the breakout pass. I would beat the forwards up, if I was the coach, and tell them quit waiting for the puck to come to them, and to go get the puck. Oh, and since we are on the forwards subject, high, and wide doesn't constitute a solid shot on goal. If you can't hit the net, then why are you playing? We really need some snipers, or finishers. Finally, shot the darn puck, and quit trying to be fancy with the nice pass.

Schenn and Voracek took major hits last night. Just seeing how far off the ice these guys fly after a hit, land and then comeback is nothing short of incredible.
