Just that there are going to be way more established and ridiculous packages out there for him. I dont think 2nd round picks will sway them as much as the other rumoured names involved.
Drouin not in the NHL, I dont believe, changes any value for him. If Cooper doesnt like him and would just keep him on the 4th line, him playing in the AHL, if anything, is going to increase his value when teams start seeing him in the Top 6 position that he should be.
I just think its going to be a shocker for what gets moved for him - DDM-Coga
Yea I get what you are saying, the other side to this is, TB is expecting to have no cap space to use on the players coming in return, that is the largest issue and I dont see them trying to flip a lot of their team to make the salary cap number work. They would want a top prospect on an entry level deal. Not many of those are available right now (if ever).
I know TB got a bit for St Louis, but they are not dealing from a position of strength right now. I mean, most of the teams that are rumored to be in on Drouin have big dreams of Stanley Cup runs THIS year, so they can't be moving too much (non draft picks) to make the deal work. I only see a few teams that really could be in on this deal, right now, if the price is that high. Even a move for Galchenyuk is a step backwards for TB. |

Carried over from the prior blog discussion: if you're trading Girgensons plus, do it for a D and skip wasting more assets on Drouin when there's an excellent chance you're getting a better version of him in the 2016 draft. A version that may not score as much but will fit the overall profile of the team much better.
Better still, do nothing major, aside from trading UFA's until the season is over and we know where the team will be drafting.
Id trade Girgs around draft day. Fowler's the guy on my mind.
One trade I'd do before the deadline is trying to get Rychel from the Jackets. Leave him in Rochester for the remainder of the season. Trade Ennis and maybe a 3rd to Columbus. |

For me, I would just like to resign him. This team really needs to build some chemistry and i know we can get a nice pick for him but is it worth losing his mojo? - CoHo_to_B-Lo
Must trade!!
Resign him in the summer. |

No one knows, everyone acts like he is already proven. He isn't, AT ALL. Stats are horrible on a very offensive team with talent. I don't understand why everyone is willing to sell the farm to get him. I keep girgs over trading him for Drouin. Ennis+ i take a shot because isn't part of this team going forward anyway. - CoHo_to_B-Lo
Totally agree my friend.
The guy couldn't get it going with one of the most offensive teams in the league. Hell he couldn't get it going with one of the best centres in the world. Even Johnson and Fillupula are pretty darn good centres.
Drouin is Mackinnon Made.
I'd take Rychel and Fabbri over Drouin right now. |

Not making this an anti-Reinhart argument but he is on pace for 35 points playing on the 1st line and top PP time.
Do you think other teams would argue he isn't very good or unproven? - sbroads24
If you watched all of the games this season you'd know that Reinhart was on the bottom two lines for the first 20 some games. You got moved to first and second lines much later into the season. This is also his first season as opposed to Drouin. |

Also has 12 goals, he has been placed in a different role and made it work. Becuase that is what good players do.... - CoHo_to_B-Lo
Exactly. Anyone thinks different just doesn't know hockey. |

I think there is 0% chance he comes to Buffalo and i am 100% ok with that. - CoHo_to_B-Lo
Me to. Don't need any whiny babies. Hell we got rid of a young whiny turd in Lemeuix last year. No need for another. |

Pretty much. We were complaining that he wasn't given a chance. Some were saying he should be on the amerks. |

He's been in the top 6 for the most part since around game 7.

We are just going to ignore his 30 assist rookie season as couldnt get it going? Lets gforget he had a thumb injury and then was stuck on the 4th line. |

Thats a great ppg, but he only had one goal in 770 total TOI.
Ryan Callahan - he of Glue fame - had 1.89 p/60 that year.
Not high praise for a "sniper." |

Im not against him, never said i was. I don't want to overpay for potential is all im saying. I would rather have proven players. I said i think its crazy what some of these proposals are, given that he hasnt done much on one of the highest scoring teams in the league. Yes he had 30 something assists. He should have, he was on the highest scoring team in the NHL. He is in the AHL for a reason, and it looks like he has a poopy attitude. Thats all im saying. Someone can trade the farm and he could be great, good for him. Or someone can get hosed. My point is no one knows what he is going to do and to give up "core" pieces seems crazy to me. |

And lets not act like he was playing with the scrubs all the time either....
Drouin's most common 5v5 forward partners have been Steven Stamkos (190:08 TOI), Ryan Callahan (105:27), Nikita Kucherov (33:58), Vladislav Namestnikov (27:37), J.T. Brown (23:36) and Cedric Paquette (23:13) |

Callahan also wasn't 19 years old though.
I guess the narrative that he didn't produce is what I disagree with.
Callahan got the top minutes on the right side with Kucherov. It's why Drouin had no room in the top 6 |

And that's when he had decent production.
When the playoffs rolled around Cooper didn't trust him to play 200 feet |

I think what Girgs does for this team is overlooked. And that deal doesn't get it done for Drouin. |

I realize Girgs is not having a good year, but I wouldn't exchange his potential for Drouin's potential right now.
EDIT: I'm not even sure I would exchange Colin White's potential for Drouin's potential right now.
