I agree that the Canucks don't have any grade A prospects now that McCann, Virtanen and Horvat have graduated. Although I would likely put Virtanen still in the prospect range.
Shink at this point is still a very 1 dimensional streaky player and while he has the most points in Utica, he isn't their best or most NHL ready player IMO.
Boeser and Demko look good right now as well but it is very hard to judge guys in the NCAA, especially considering they are on stacked teams. I don't think we will really know what we have in them until they make it to the AHL.
Gaunce has been up and down this year but IMO is still their most NHL ready prospect, he was playing their #1 C while they were decimated with injuries and while he didn't dominate, he did okay.
I say hold on to all your prospects because at this point we have no idea who will rise to the top. Hutton is a prime example of that. - belcherbd
Boeser and Demko are grade A. jury is out on Shink but I think he will get there. Watched that kid a lot with Med Hat he has the grade A ability. |

I can't believe people are actually getting this worked up over the ASG and the whole John Scott fiasco. Do any of you even think for a second that the players ACTUALLY enjoy the All Star weekend? I bet you half of them wish they didn't have to go. The whole thing is a huge sham, a waste of time, and a money grab by the league. We should probably discuss a relevant topic now - Codes1087

Kadri on pace for 16 goals and 30 assists seems like McCann and Virt and possibly Bo would be a small price to pay for that...

Anytime you trade a winger for a centre you're doing OK. |

Like the Lord said, I think Boeser and Demko are grade A prospects. Not elite necessarily but Demko has been outstanding. Maybe it is college with the knock against it more than the players. But still, if they aren't playing in the NHL they can only prove their worth in the league they are in.
As you said with Hutton, you don't always know what you have, I am glad they are getting looks at so many of our prospects in at least a game of NHL action. Might not be a long look in some cases, but it might help in recruiting when some undrafted players/late bloomers are looking for a pro contract. |

Again where does Shink play? Danny Sven and Etem are pretty well set for the next two and a half years . |

9. The Sedins are 35, with two years remaining on their contracts. Have they considered playing until, say, 40?
“Age is a number…The way our bodies feel, for sure, I think we could do it. The only thing that’s different is the travel and back-to-backs wear on you more. When you wake up, you’re more sore. We’ll see what happens, but travel is the one thing that could keep us from playing that long.”

I say trade them east to give them a better travel schedule. I bet you could trade them to Toronto for Kadri and Phaneuf. Shore up the blue line and get a #1 Center. |

Could you picture the Sedin's pulling a Sundin?
They are here to stay if they don't want to leave. This and next season will give them a good indication of how good or bad the club really is and might impact a move to another team or possible retirement.
With their large contracts, it would have to be some crazy deal to trade them before the tdl of the last year of their contracts.
They have been the face of the franchise and will hold many club records when they retire. You know they want to win the cup here. I keep thinking of Lebron going to Miami to win a championship. The Sedins want to play here and win here, and show up to play almost every night, through nagging injuries and constant abuse..
I noticed the tone of respect in Carol's writing when it was about Henrik. much deserved.
but I still wonder what they would be worth in a trade I want no part of Kadri or Phaneuf. |

I don't at all. I loved Gino and I hope he's okay. I just know he has mental issues, financial issues and Pavel was being honoured, Pat Quinn was being honoured and perhaps he was feeling left out. Just my opinion. - Scooby_Doo
I partied with gino a few years back about 5 times....my neighbors also grew up with him and knew both him and pavel, so I've met him several times. Seemed to be a decent guy...and if he has mental issues its news to me.
Always thought he'd be taller though... |
