Now is the time to start calling Montreal and see what we can get for Vrbata. That team is falling apart and cant score goals. Maybe they are willing to offer something significant up now so they can still push for a playoff spot. |

The idea is to improve. Bringing back aging vets is stupid. There I said it.

If everyone were to come back, I think that:
1) you try to trade and then waive Cracknell. It was great surprise that he won a job in October but the youth has grown up a bit. Time to move on. We have 6 centres: Sedin, Sutter, Bo, Vey, McCann, Cracknell. Too many sitting. Cracknell become Nil Crack.
2) Prust may be a great guy in the locker room and willing to stand up for the team, but the what have you done lately for me syndrome has set in. UFA after this year. Must be worth something to someone as SC run depth. If not - given him the Higgins treatment.
3) Vrbata - showing some chemistry which will go a long way to help develop Bo/Bae. Can't afford to say goodbye unless the offer is too good to refuse. Or unless Bo/Bae develop chemistry with someone else. I want a draft pick for him. I don't think it will happen based on current situation.
4) Vey/Etem - former teammates showing old chemistry. Keep them together for now. They will develop faster that way. And YES, Vey is developing. Slower than I wanted but moving in the right direction. Still needs more strength - maybe the offseason will be kind to him.
5) Burrows and Hansen - Both are great PKers, but Burrows seems to have lost an offensive step. I think one needs to go. It can wait until offseason if need be. My choice is bye Burrows. He seems headed for 3/4 line only. Hansen is showing more energy and ability to moveup and down the lineup. Go younger, get rid of pricier.
6) Defense - cant see Edler, Tanev, Sbisa, Hutton, Biega going anywhere. Problem is, Edler needs Hammer to help carry the load - and Hammer hasn't been up to the challenge this year. I hope that he was suffering from lingering injury which has healed with his jaw. Healthy Hammer may be good 3 after 2b/3 Edler. Don't think they will get a #1 by trade or signing so I see Hammer hanging around to stick a finger in the dyke.
7) Weber/Bart - get what you can or waive to AHL. I think Bart has potential but he is also a log jam. Watch him become a solid 5/6 next year somewhere else.
8) M & Ms - Everyone deserves a sweet treat now and then. Just remember to change colors after every game. 1 on - 1 off - with more Marky and less Miller over time. Once Marky starts taking over #1 permanently, look at backup options for 17/18 season
Lines:
1) Triple S line (keep TOI reasonable Hank and Dank while still elite, are no longer the driver on the team. That is becoming the much more energetic Bo. Sutter can move to 2/3C as needed.
2) B2Vrby - It's working for now - hopefully someone can step up & replace Vrb. Too early for Shrink
3) Etem/Vey/Hansen
4) Dorsey/McCann/Virt
gone Cracknell/Prust
maybe gone Burrows - I would rather see someone like Kenins sitting in the press box until needed.
I would like to see Virt & McCann do a play / sit thing though. I think it would be great for Virt to play with the Sedins 1 game then sit 1 out to watch and learn. He could learn a lot by play and watching them. That would push Sutter to 3C, Vey to 4V and McCann could sit the opposite games out to work on strength. - Lostinarink

I hope the boys from Black Sabbath make it to Feb 4th at the very least. I can't imagine making a trip to Vancity just to watch the Canucks entertain the Blue JAckets. |

Damm, where are the 8 appendices that I attached to my dissertation. That's where all the insight and detailed explanations were. Without those JB and co wont understand and wont be able to fully implement the plan. We're screwed now. Those appendices would have guaranteed a Stanley cup. |

Thats the type of deal I am really hoping for. We need to add a Dman who can play next season and one that has potential to eventually play a top 4 role. - mauryballstein
If it wasnt for Subbans poor defensive coverage he could be that guy. His offensive numbers are great, But the guy needs to get better in the defensive aspect. |

Here's an offer I would make to the Habs
Vrbata for their second round pick
Jordan Subban and Shink for Noah Juulsen
We have too many small forwards and montreal need scoring.
Juulsen is from Abbotsford drafted 26 th overall and is 6'2 RHD |

Too skilled? Depending on the cost i'd be interested. However, I think they'd want too much. |
