I don't care about potential. If a player like McGinn is all ready on your roster and you just traded for him, giving him up would be a weak move IMO. Especially if they plan on letting go Mouson and possibly Gionta next season. Having a guy that wouldn't cost as much as it would be to overpay some one year wonder from another team this off season to fill McGinn's role

He's a UFA that's been fairly productive. If Murray offers him a contract and he's unwilling to sign it, they have to trade him. Can't afford to let guys that have some sort of value walk for nothing.

I like it. Two players who need a change of scenery. It could benefit both teams and if it doesn't they lose a struggling player. Win-Win for both teams with little risk.
