That's a lot of money for a first line 24.2 mil.

No kidding hey! But realistically we could due with two high draftpicks and Stamkos doesn't want to play in Vancouver over Detroit, Calgary, Toronto or T-bay. One of them will pay him, I don't see Vancouver as being a spot for him as he wants to win now not in three years. I know that kinda eliminates Toronto, but there's something to the hometown commitment maybe.

My favourite is the character assassination of a guy that's not happy with making 70K vs 900K because his trade request went public.

I'm pretty sure everyone posting here would be fine with that paycut.

His trade went public....because he wanted it too

Wouldn't it be funny if Drouin Stamkos was our first line?

My favorite is that he's not willing to showcase himself to make it easier to get traded. Like I said before, if you don't have the cojones to shut up and play and show JC and SY that they made a mistake and get every team to drool over you then you deserve to rot in the press box until your ELC runs out.

Glad you're not in charge of our " retool on the fly then "
- Bullfrog77

well clearly. the feeling is mutual, We'd have no NHL caliber defensemen within a year and you'd be saying "they will develop in time with the right coaching". Retooling on the fly is horsepoop anyway, they need a full scale dump and restock.

And he has no control over his agent? If that's the case then he really doesn't belong in the NHL. The agent can only do what is in the best interests of his client, but only with his permission/knowledge. If you're going to tell me that Drouin had absolutely no idea that his agent was going to go public with his trade demand or that he didn't want it public but the agent did it anyways, then I don't know what else to say.

That would have worked last year when the rules hadn't changed and the top 5 in the draft were all either NHL-ready/elite/close to it. Now even if you do hit 30th in the league, you may still end up drafting 4th overall if you get unlucky. Beyond Matthews and maybe the two Swedes none of the rest of the top 10 look NHL ready or show elite talent levels. Next year at this point is too early to tell but it doesn't look good.

Come on man. I don't know the first thing about Druin, wether he's a standup individual or a total POS or anything in between. What I do know is that he's a teenager desperate to play in the NHL. It's pretty easy for an agent to manipulate that. Is he guilt free? No, probably not, but not many teenagers are.

Yeah Cody went thru 3 agents. Drouin has plenty of time to really wreak his career.

Really? That's not what central scouting is saying.
