Again, their previous 2 season records proved otherwise.

They decided to move Chuckie to center and try that. Team got points in 20 of first 24 games, and was virtually scoring at will. At that point, looked like a good move.

Hindsight is a (frank)ing female genitalia, for sure, but when you draft a guy to be your #1 center and say you want him to be your number one center, but your coach gives him 3rd line minutes, and weaker wingers - there is an obvious disconnect somewhere in the organization.

That, to me, is the real problem... whether it is MB or MT (or both to blame) I do not know.

their previous 2 seasons proved EXACTLY that they needed offensive depth which they did not acquire. I don't remember any time when they were scoring at will.

that's kind of the funniest part about this season, how Bergevin drops that word into every sentence to gloss over the fact that he can't add talent, and in reality, this team has shown itself to have terrible character.
- DoubleDown

Starting with a captain who will never break a nail for a teammate. That's true character.

Oh wait, the players voted for the guy.

Makes total sense.

Sucked or been average? Aka drafting in the 10-20 range for the last 25 years. You have to bottom out for 4 or 5 years and get the top picks.
- cburgess

You don't need the top picks to get stars. Look at PK and Max Pac on your own team. You have to have good scouting, development, and a little luck.

The Habs won't go anywhere with Marc Bergevin running the show. Heck, if you're limited to picking coaches and GMs who are either French or legendary Habs players, you'll always be behind the 8 ball.

Bergen has done very little to change this roster at all since he started being the GM. He's simply to scared to try anything to change the team significantly.

In his defense he had the second best package in almost every trade.

He could and should have trade for Patrick Sharp especially considering what Dallas gave for.
- Habsody

Fair, but did Sharp want to come to MTL?

Regardless of he did not have an NMC, I am sure the Hawks likely got his input before trading him.

Why did he have to play in the nhl right away? Why could he not of developed as a top line Centre in the minors for 2 seasons? For the slight chance he would contribute on the 3rd line during a playoff push?

2 points... 1, you're assuming that a great regular season is the ultimate goal. it's not. winning in the playoffs is, and the past 2 seasons were clear demonstrations that this team doesn't have the firepower up front. they were a step closer with Vanek but he left and they never replaced him. 2, you keep talking about hindsight, but we female doged and moaned in this thread all through June, July and August about how Bergevin did nothing to fix a glaring hole. we shut up in October/November because Dale Weise and Thomas Fleischmann combined for 15 goals.

They were in the race to the very end so yes, i would assume Montreal was among his choices.

he didn't have much of a choice. After Byron got snatched off the waiver wire he had to go to Plan B

I'd rather have a player with an illiterate tattoo artist then one who gets the poop kicked out of him by his GF.
