There are few teams who can take on that cap hit (or even willing).
But that is fine... if the Habs sat with $6-7-8M cap space, I am sure that would help the club perform while they wit for a player to become available. - Mashadar
Serious question. Are you related to Marc Bergevin?
I mean, he's from Montreal after all. So it's possible. |

He's had a few good trades. Vanek not contributing anything that playoffs wasn't Bergevins fault. Everyone was having an orgy in here the day the trade happened. And I think getting Petry last year was a solid trade for them aswell. - cburgess
He will always acquire the "safe guy". He won't give up significant value to improve the team. He's basically like every fan on hockey buzz trying to trade scrap parts for a finished car. Doesn't work in the real NHL. |

It was mentionned by Bobby Mac that Sharp said no to a trade to Mtl. - fidopro
But reality does not matter.
Habs can trade for anyone because they just can - cap and assets and MNCs don't matter. Just like all the UFAs want to come to MTL too - especially all the French heroes.
It really is just that easy. |

I really don't give (frank) about MB. And I certainly give a lot less of a poop about MT.
I just don't live in the dream world you all live in where you wake up from puppy kisses each morning, win every proline sports bet you place, and think NHL trades and player management is easier than making a burger at McDonalds. |

9 or 10 points in 11 games through the first 2 rounds that year. he took a dump in the NY series but so did everyone else. it was a great trade and it highlighted how desperately Montreal needed that added scoring threat up front because they were a different team with him in the lineup. |

I personally like trading the Kuznetsov and Faulk picks to move up and draft Tinordi. That's a favorite of mine |

It's easy to make trades...not as easy to win them and I'd rather nothing over get fleeced |

He was great for his first 15 games until Subban took out his knee trying to make a hit. Looked like he played injured the rest of the way and really slowed down. |

Then I'm amazed that with all this great wisdom and knowledge, the only thing you seem to identify as a problem with the habs, is the fact Therrien shuffles the lines with the hope of creating a spark and you want him fired.
BTW, I find Therrien became soft with the years and actually looks like a (frank)ing wussy in his press conference. So, yeah, if they can find someone better, than by all means, fire him. |

i don't understand why you think it's so unreasonable to have expectations that a GM improves the team. i don't think it's as impossible as you seem to think it is. |

he gave Montreal some balance in their lineup. yeah he was a complete wussy and he mailed it in some games, but he was a gamebreaker who could score from anywhere. only guy on the roster like that is Pacioretty. takes Montreal 30 minutes of play to build towards a goal. |

No ones claiming it's easy, but it's his (frank)ing job. Lots of people are paid to terribly difficult jobs, and they don't get to come into work and say "sorry, This job is really hard, I'm trying though" |

I remember in Pittsburgh when he said his D corp was trying hard to be the worst in the league.
He could have said that after a couple of games this year. |
