Markov would be the only player you might get something for. I doubt they would trade Plekanec gallager patches, galchenyuk, Subban beaulieu and price. The rest of the players would have no trade value
- cburgess

Plekanec and Markov I would be okay to move but would package with prospects / picks to try and get a young RW.

You don't get Drouin for this season. You get Drouin for the next 15 years.
Like any other 20 y/o, he'll need a few more years to develop and reach his potential.

Now, if MB doesn't want to trade youth for short term bandaid solutions, I'm with you, we won't see any trade and this team will sink for the next 2 months, mainly because he has nothing to offer in a trade but prospects.

- fidopro

Starting to think Drouin isn't all that committed to playing hockey for a career. I remember McKinnon saying he and others had to convince him to go to Halifax to play junior after he was drafted, as he originally didn't want to go. Not saying he isn't crazy talented, but that doesn't always mean they really enjoy playing.

I could be way off, but maybe if this whole thing boils down to him not playing and not getting traded, he just walks away. On the other hand Walsh is a (frank) and might just be (frank)ing everyone over

There is no GM who has been watching hockey this year that will take on Andrei Markov and his contract.

Plek and Markov should have been traded last year, before giving them new 6M contracts.

I would trade Subban...and Pacioretty...and Markov...and Price...and...

I would trade HABSolutely everyone for the right price (no pun intended). Unfortunately, Bergevin will not...but he'll trade a nobody for the wrong price...

Indeed. I'm sure there would still be interest for Plekanec even though he's overpaid.

You might be right, I don't know him well enough to say. All I know is that if MB had the chance to trade for the 3rd overall pick that year to draft Drouin, it would probably have cost him a lot more than what TB is asking now, and that everyone in here would have been dancing in the street.
We always hear you have to draft that kind of talent, because you cannot trade for them or at least it's very difficult to do so. Well, they now have a chance to trade for one. Yes it is risky, just as much as trading up to get the 3rd overall pick in a very good year.

Oh ya, I'm a big fan of trading for him either way. Though you wonder if he'll ever be as good as he could if it's just a way to make a living and not something he loves. Still likely to be better than 3/4 of the current team though

How many small top 5 picks have looked so out of place in the NHL in their first few years before eventually living up to their potential?

can't wait for the Leafs to beat MTL on Saturday, the pressure on MB/MT will only get worse.

Not that they're small, but it took the Sedins forever to really blossom.
