Maybe. Would be nice if he spent his time cleaning up the Hab's garbage instead of the league's though

Another great move by Bowman picking up Sekac.
Always liked that kid. Great final piece of the puzzle.

There will be no trades.

That said, hopefully they can find takers for Pacioretty Plekanec and Markov over the summer

- Pecafan Fan

They could easily find a take for Pacioretty... like 29 teams.

I could live with Plek and Markov being traded.
Im sure we can find a taker for Nygren as well unless they eventually give him a chance

I'd rather not trade Plekanec and Markov and certainly not Pacioretty

I agree, but the other 2 are getting on in years and could get a decent return

Not sure Markov would get that great of a return with the year remaining on his contrat (6M for a 38 year old guy)

Pleckanec is a great two way centre but better suited for a team that's close to winning now, if you can get some decent prospects now is the time to do it

You won't get much other than a salary dump and an ahl contract and maybe a pick, he's worth more to the Habs than he is in a trade

Bergevin has painted himself in a corner though. Plekanec at 6M for another 2 years is not an easy sell. Markov at 5.75M for another season is more moveable but with how he's been playing of late, it might not fetch the desired return.
If there is one thing MB is guilty of, it's resigning players that should be moved for significant assets... (Plekanec, Emelin, Desharnais, Eller, Markov)

Hard to move those players out for assets when you have Price

So it seems the solution is to stay with what we have, try to find takers for our 4th line players and hope for a good draft pick this year.
Anyone know if its a good year?

Trade every player MTL drafted the past 10 years that are still with the team and sign more veterans this summer

In the case of Desharnais and Eller, extensions should not have been signed. This roster has never been an offensive juggernaut. Price or no Price, Bergevin should have been trying to improve offensively, IMO. Emelin and Plekanec extensions were premature and overpaid. He does get a pass on Markov for "time served".

As for trading them, I'd also be in favour but I was simply saying that the return won't be as good as it would have been had it happened when their latest contract was up.

Why doesn't Plekanec get a pass for time served?

That is a fair point.

I argued in favour of trading both in their expiring contract seasons (Plekanec last summer)

Markov has also been around longer and been more dominant.
