That is a fair point.

I argued in favour of trading both in their expiring contract seasons (Plekanec last summer)

Markov has also been around longer and been more dominant.

I just don't think it's fair to judge this team based on the last 2 months alone

So it seems the solution is to stay with what we have, try to find takers for our 4th line players and hope for a good draft pick this year.
Anyone know if its a good year?

Word is that Montreal keeps extending Price's timeline because he will not play again this season, but if they announce anything it will destroy player morale giving them an excuse not to try and a potential dip in interest which may decrease the bottom line.

Agreed. Like I said,
I argued in favour or exchanging both before this season. At some point, this team needs to acquire some scoring punch and it won't happen by trading Lars Eller. He's mostly improvement via his own absence.

Not Eller alone no but at this point a case could be made that Eller would be a more attractive commodity than both Plekanec and Markov when you take age and salary under consideration

Doubtful. Not many Milbury's around the league right now... Although I guess Maloney owes one to Bergevin right now... Right?

I believe he does and if the Habs manage to string a few wins together in the next little while we might find out what that is

You would get a return, not sure about a decent one
- obie

Pleks might not be worth it for what you'd get, but Markov at his cap hit would be good to get rid of for anything at this point. I mean unless they want to keep him in a 6-7 role, but not sure that's a decent option either

Diaz was 12 years younger and cost 5 million dollars less...2 completely different scenarios

Diaz was also 10x worse than Markov ever was.
