Thanks i'm fine with debating and horsing around - Fredo
I can see how belittling this is for you, quite a waste of your talents and mind. At least you took the time to actually share your valid insights and wisdom with us.
I know I will now sleep better. |

So they are going to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to say they can be sold out, which a big chunk then goes to the players.
C'mon. - Mashadar
No they aren't buying half the arena. But if there's a couple hundred seats left they'll do it. |

I actually wouldn't put that past them - ehabs9

I don't think you'll get anywhere with him.. It's not a fact that the franchise was sold for 200 millions 15 years agos for the Team and the building to an american because no canadian investors would take the risk - Fredo
Obviously, because an American had to buy the team, tickets were not being sold.
I see the logical connection there.
Brilliant.
I am sure the fact that the Canadian dollar was worth about 64 cents US at the time had nothing to do with and american with American money buying the team.. but I am probably wrong there, too.
I am done.
Tired of being outsmarted by someone with such vast intelligence.
Too humbling and experience. |

I distinctly remember that when the team was really bad late 90s early 2000s that there were empty seats. |

the Canadian dollar was 0.64 cents when Gillette purchased 80% of the team for 200M, when Molson bought it in 2009 the dollar was $0.87
or because they had empty seats |

Maybe the data is wrong, but there was a 100% next to the attendance from 2001 forward.
Quite frankly too tired to care at this point, and regardless, the team has not had an attendance issue in the last decade, regardless of how poopty some of those teams were. |

Based on Assets that had a value in American Dollars!
Obviously, you must have forgotten to type that... because it is too obvious of something for you with that vast mind not to recognize.
Either way, I am done.

Gilette sold the team for a reported over 650 millions. He sold it because he nedeed liquidity in his FC Liverpool venture. He bought the habs when nobody wanted it. He bought low, sold high and made a poopload of money. He flipped the habs basically |

Oh, I'm sure it does, unless some of these billionaire owners flipped money when it was par or close to.
Mrs26 give the boy her visa to buy some concert tickets online the other day (not gonna say who).
The exchange was 1.46 |

It does have effect but to think nobody wanted to buy the habs because of a weak dollar is a little far fetched. Gilette did one thing good and thats turn this organisation into a money making machine. I just don't think famillies will keep spending 600$ for tickets, parking, food and drink for a weekgame agaisnt the devils for a mediocre team. |

I guess i'm waiting for big Mike McCarron, imagine if he turns out to be a third liner and Scherbaks keeps this up. Juulsen is having a horrible season in juniors.
They'll make the playoffs because of Price but he can't win 4 rounds by himself. |

Was a double edged sword really.
You could buy the company for 70 cents on the dollar.
But, you had to pay the employees at 1.30 on the dollar.
In 5 years you've paid to your employees more than you've bought the company for.
Granted he did get lucky with inflation of the the value of his company. |
