He handed handsome contracts to Plekanec, Markov, Desharnais, Eller, Emelin and Petry to be core pieces.

I think that he had more or less nothing to do with it.

He didnt add any pieces, you're right but being a good GM is also about the trades you don't make....every other GM in the last 25 years has at least one major blunder on his trade record that set the Habs back for years and a lot of smaller trades they lost along the way... name 1 bad trade MB has made...

That has 2 seasons of over 100 points, and likely would have went to the final if Price did not get injured by Kreider.

Were they a perfect team? No. But they were not a bad team.

- Mashadar

No they were Carey Price's team. Still are.

Yeah, you got to give credit where credit is due. All the trades he hasn't made panned out awesomely.

They wouldn't have beaten the Rangers with price.

Can we name a player that is around 21-22 that is ready to make an impact on this roster, that was drafted by Bergevin/Timmins? I mean, outside of Galchenyuk who was a top 3 pick...

Honestly, I doubt they would've gotten pas Tampa if Bishop wasn't injured (if we're playing "ifs and buts")

Sekac for Smith pelly. This team could use the skill over a 4th line right now. Not saying sekac would score 45 goals a year, but he would be a bigger offensive threat then most of the forwards on the current time roster.

Yeah. Sekac for DSP is the Habs downfall.

Must be why the Hawks picked him up today... cup now 100% guaranteed.

Bob Murray, about a year ago:

Sekac for Smith pelly. This team could use the skill over a 4th line right now. Not saying sekac would score 45 goals a year, but he would be a bigger offensive threat then most of the forwards on the current time roster.

See how that turned out.
