Per his agent, which is obviously biased, he did do what they asked. He went to the AHL, proved he was healthy and did what they said.
I think Drouin is doing the best thing for him as a player right now. He can't get hurt, is hurting his asking price, and trying to force the hand of Tampa. Will it work? I don't think so. But waiting on the trade will only hurt Tampa too. Yzerman might decide to just keep him suspended which he has a right to do, but that won't help Tampa. The longer he sits, the lower the price goes.
This trade was asked for months ago. Yzerman wants his full value and "won't be bullied" and blah blah blah. At some point you have to realize a small loss is better than a big one and he might learn that twice with Stamkos and Drouin in one year. Reigning GM of the year and the dysfunction in that organization is astounding. - Zschalberg
Except you missed the part where they proposed to the team that he not play, and Tampa declined. That is where he failed to do what was asked of him.
It's also not impossible to get traded while hurt. Just ask Evander Kane. |

If anyone actually looked at the replay of that "flip pass" by O'Reilly..... it was a fluke. It deflected off the Col defender's stick and flipped over the net.
Complete fluke. Stop idolizing ROR for it. - BALUCHA

Turning the corner, I like what I see the past month!
Thoughts/Opinions:
- Drouin for Ennis (Girgs)/(Pysyk)Brendan Guhle & 2nd
- Foligno/Larsson - playing much better
- BoGo playing w/ Risto
- 90
- 15/23 future looks bright
- coaching is making a difference - Irish 14
way too much
foligno, florentino another blah prospect and second is all that should be needed at this point |

Yes, he didn't do what he was told. He instead decided to do what,in his mind, was best for him as a player. The situation in Tampa isn't beneficial for him so he wants to leave. If he gets injured there's no way he's traded. So he's avoiding injury. At the same time trying to force Tampa's hand. I don't see that as whiny, I see it as hardball. If it pays off and he's traded before the deadline day the gamble worked. If not, he'll look like a fool. |

nice work...and you're right, yzerman shoulda taken care of this much sooner - Michael Pachla
he screwed up the brett connolly thing as well
it's weird because the bolts handled Paquette, Killorn, Kucherov, and Palat the right way and clearly (frank)ed up how they handled the 2 players with better skill (when drafted) |

Wrong.
People can get traded when they're injured. Can it throw a kink in things? Sure. But that doesn't prevent it from happening. |

I wouldn't give Foligno atm. I'd trade him at the deadline as long as his play continues how it's been. He was a good player last game especially. I'd do Ennis and a 2nd and we'll eat celery or take a cap casualty |

I honestly have no clue what the hell Yzerman is doing. While Drouin hasn't done himself any favors this year, Yzerman has made the situation even worse. The longer this drags out, the less he's going to get in return for him.
Add in the Connolly thing, all the rumors about Stamkos, etc and you have yourself a hot mess of an organization right now. |

So, maybe you guys can help me here
I only saw the highlights thanks to stupid DVR not recording the game
I did not like what i saw from Lehner on both goals.
Flailing like a fish out of water on the first....seriously?!
The second, yes he was blocked by Pysk and puck was tipped, but he appeared to be sliding along behind Pysk, INSTEAD of to the left, where the net was open, his view unobstructed and the deflection would've hit him in the numbers.
So, did he also have some great saves that I would've missed?.....otherwise I want Johnson in net. |

The odds would dramatically go down. Especially since it's been so hard to get him traded for full value for months. So yes, it CAN happen, but it would severely limit the chances. |

I have a general question totally off topic - I am getting rid of cable (because its so franking expensive!) and the only qualm that I have in getting rid of it is missing out on Sabres games. What would be the best way to see games with no cable? I will be streaming shows with a Roku & PS4 and a digital antenna if that helps. Thanks!! |

The poster that offered this opinion has obviously watched many Syracuse games . I value his opinion . You can't have every shiny new toy there is . Some toys are billed way higher than their actual value and are best left on the shelf. - Maximum Signal
Drouin has played three home games in Syracuse...So obviously he hasn't seen him play many games. His opinion means very little |

That's a bit different though, we didn't need Kane to play that (last) season since our goal was not to win more. |

Go watch the whole game on replay because he had a really good game last night. For 2 periods he looks incredible. The entire team stopped in the 3rd. He kept the team in it through some really quality chances for Colorado. |

Who's to say that a team interested in Drouin wouldn't feel the same way? You can't assume that if he gets hurt he absolutely CANNOT get traded. Nobody knows that.
Moral of the story:
He needs to shut his mouth, put his skates on (no matter what team it's for) and do his god damn job. Period. |

If he gets traded before the TDL then the moral is wrong. The moral then is: Do what is best for you even if others disapprove. If it works he's a genius, if not he's an idiot.

What about the St. Louis (to NYR), did he not mess that up too? It was out in the media that St. Louis only wanted to play for NYR, how is that helping? |

Better than not so bad imo. While watching the game I was thinking to myself, wow, this is going to piss some people on this website off if he keeps playing this way. |
