prust may also be being sat due to the spearing incident and not wanting this to turn ugly. Particularly with the injuries we currently have, not wanting a high cheap shot game.
Id prefer to have seen him on the ice or even bench however. Perhaps itd keep that puke marchand busy worrying about prust and not trying to take our guys out with his illegal tactics.

- SMBDragon

Prust is out because his last few games have been horrendous. Plain and simple.

Prust to Montreal for a 4th and Jon Scott.
- Beatle_john

Then we can have John Scott as the Canuck representative at the all star game and rest Daniel. I'm on board

He can get the most for Drouin at the draft. I say let the little puke sit on the sidelines for the rest of the year.

am I the only one who wouldn't mind seeing Prust play tonight, could get interesting with the little douche canoe marchant running around.
- PopCanBong

I thought Prust would dress as well to answer for the spear on Marchand and create some animosity but not to be.

Posted this in the previous thread but to good not to post again for tonights game...

Good to see Marchand was staying in shape during his suspension

Guessing it will be a distraction and Drouin will be moved at tdl. If he isn't moved and TBay does nothing in the playoffs, critics will question if a trade had been made if the return could have helped in the playoffs?

Media love the ongoing stories that they can milk.

I have been kind of going back and forth with this on who is most at fault. From listening to SY and Drouins camp they all F@cked up some where along the way. Lets not leave out Jon Cooper in all this either. Imo he is just as guilty. Watching the interview with SY he is trying really hard to restrain himself. I get the feeling a lot of egos where going head to head.

It has to be egos and low ceilings. Players on their elc's don't usually hold out, guess JD is feeling he isn't getting a fair shake. Maybe shown to much opportunity too early, and is a little entitled? A bit of a distraction.

Tbay loves being in the news.

Cooper apparently has taken some blame for it, he is trusting the guys that took him to the finals and its tough to put a young guy in who will make mistakes.

I found this stuff the most interesting from a TSN article:
This year, the Lightning sent Drouin to the AHL after 38 games on the roster, which would prevent him from accruing another season of service at the NHL level (40 games). That would keep him under control as a restricted free agent until 2022, not 2021 should he be on the roster for another two games.

Lightning coach Jon Cooper also took responsibility for the Drouin situation in his pre-game availability with the media. Drouin’s primary point production (goals and first assists) rank him among the elite players in his age group when adjusted for his limited time on ice. Drouin averaged 13 minutes per game last season.

Cooper is the guy who ultimetly decides who plays with who, position and how much ice they see. Something tells me he is not in some players good books, it's a little telling that Stammer is not signed at this point. I think this is a much bigger piece than any Yzerman/drouin problem.

Thanks for the share. What's amazing is just how bad the Tbay 2nd line has been and yet they still didn't deploy Drouin there. Not only that, but Kucherov is not playing with Palat/johnson, so while he is playing the same guys he has broken the best line on his hockey club up.

It has being proven time and again in a lot of different sports, that great players make mediocre Management or coaches.
Yzerman was a team guy. Played his entire career for 1 team. Had chances to leave for more money but took lees to stay with the team and help them win. Now he is running into guys that are "me first" and he does not know how to deal with them. Avs are declining for the similar reason. Mediocre players make great coaches and GM's

I agree with this. TB has underachieved immensely this season and I do believe he negatively affected Stamkos's production as well as last years best line in hockey.

They proved this young team had the talent to make it to the SCF and then fall apart. Not one player but 3 players. I would be beginning to wonder if the team is also a big problem.

I read last night on Twitter and it said Stamkos has been offered the final contract and has turned it down and that's why Sportsnet and Freiedman have both come out and said look out for Vancouver.

They suggested a seven year 70 to 80 mil contract . The only team that has that cap space will be the Canucks. TO will have space but they have lots of RFAs to sign.

Either way Canucks are sitting pretty good right now.

From that TSN piece I feel more like Yzerman was trying to maintain a hold for long term success, too many good young players with not enough roster spots, but didnt want to move anyone and Drouin/Walsh are forcing Tampa's hand. That 2 games until he gets a year closer to UFA status seems very shady and I dont blame Drouin/Walsh from wanting to get closer to freedom and a big payday

Coward Prust can't play. Ha. And only one Sedin to beat up on. O'well, 6-0 victory will do.

Team 1040 brought up a good point, Hedman and Drouin have the same mgmt company. Hedman is due for new contract 2017

I would be immensely happy if Vancouver went after Stamkos. He would be a good fit on the current line up and fill a role when the Sedins retire. We have the space.

Apparently not that big of a deal though

FYI: Drouin & Hedman are repped by same agency, Octagon Hockey, different agents. Drouin situation will have zero impact on Hedman with TB.

Cracknell is a great guy in the locker room as well as a bread and butter 4th line player. Seems to get along well with the younger group.
- thundachunk

He's a Victoria guy and came and spoke at one of my kids practices a few years back when he was with the Blues...a really well spoken and nice guy

I hope he sticks with the Nucks for sure
