I distinctly remember the "Trade Couts, Laughton's the same thing anyway" posts, and
 - BulliesPhan87
Laughton certainly seemed like a guy who could step in and be a solid, two-way center at an early age. But it just shows that you can't know that for sure based on performances in Junior and the AHL. The NHL is a huge step up. |

The worst I've seen from Coots overall was his second season. - SuperSchennBros
He struggled in the lockout season as a 19 year old given very hard minutes on a mediocre team, which allowed the Flyers to sign him to a very cheap bridge deal. |

Couturier may have been in a point slump, but the reality is as an overall player, Couturier has rarely struggled since he came into the league. He has a big impact on the game, whether he puts up points or not. When he's putting up points, that makes him even more valuable. - MJL
Don't need to know how valuable he is, I already know.
No problem admitting I was wrong.

29 teams in NHL get that bounce that Schenn didn't get. Guarantee it. - Giroux_Is_God
Amen. I've seen us have that kind of bad luck so many times at the end of games. Defender makes a nice block, puck bounces right to a wide open player with a screaming net and we have OT on our hands.
How about that RJ shot last night? Wait let me re-phrase that, how about that RJ dribbler last night? That had to be the weakest shot I've ever seen, no exaggeration.
And kudos to Mason who played a great game. My dad missed the game and when he got home and saw the final score he asked, bad game by Mason? My answer was simple..if it wasn't for Mason it probably would have been 9-2 after 2. |

Incorrect.
Facts are simple and facts are straight
Facts are lazy and facts are late
Facts all come with points of view
Facts don't do what I want them to
Facts just twist the truth around

We already established that MDZ/Gudas had a rough night.
So L1 lost against Crosby, but they played very well against others. - Tomahawk
They did fair, overall, at ES, the Flyers top players were all outplayed. Along with the PK, that was the biggest reason why the Flyers lost. Couturier being out was another big factor. |

The top line is also the reason they were in the game. |

Also, lovin all the "we missed Coots" posts.
Trade him. He's shown me nothing. 3C at best on a contender. - Giroux_Is_God
The team needed to find a way without him, but cooter is a big part of the team and if he's in the lineup we have a way better shot at winning that game. |

I didn't mention anything about the bottom 6. The biggest reason by far that the Flyers lost that game was that the Flyers top players, their top line, and top defense pair in particular, got drastically outplayed by the Pens top players. The top 2 lines were on the ice for both ES goals against. The other main reason was the PK giving up 2 goals. - MJL

I just want to start by saying I am extremely disappointed this morning.
Now..... I have been an advocate for Mason over the last few years and last nights game was not Masons fault and I'm not about to say Mason has been bad this year. He's been fine, the defense is mediocre at best, but there is no denying his play has taken a step back from last season. Even then, hes been pretty solid. HOWEVER, Neuvirth has been unbelievable this season and if not for him we would be talking about our chances of getting the #1 overall pick. He has literally stolen games and given the Flyers chances to win games we had no business being in. Basically what I'm saying is if Mason played the game against Detroit....we would've lost. No doubt about it. If Neuvy played against Toronto AND Pitt. I think we win. I feel like it's time to let Neuvirth take the majority of the games the rest of the season if this team has any chance at the playoffs. They dont need good goaltending or "ok" or average some nights. They need game changing..... Thats been Neuvirth.
Thx. - GOA88

The top lines did indeed get outplayed but I'm ok with it b/c Giroux at least fired back with a goal. |

I don't mind seeing neuvirth get more starts here. Not sure we win those games even with him though. I def expect Michal in goal tomorrow.
