Too many soft plays out of the zone though. Sbisa on the first goal was brutal with that clearing attempt

I think Hansen could get a 1st + b prospect easily if we traded. possibly more if there is a bidding war. guy tries hard every shift of every game and has the talent to make a difference.

Quite simple really when Burke made a mastestroke on that draft.
Never having #1 overall pick cuz never sad enough to be the Oilers or Avs or Hawks or the Pens beats watching sad sack hockey for years. Rather see a competitive team year in n year out anyday. If nothing else the simple fact we can push for the PO whilst integrating so many kids n call ups bodes well for the future.

I just have different expectations for this team than most here. The losing doesn't bother me that much. We have some solid youth playing in the lineup and that's what I wanted to see. Benning has been touted as an excellent drafter. Let's see what he can do with a top 10 pick.

Draft Jake Virtanen….seriously though, I'd love to see them get a couple top three or five picks. Can you win without them, sure, but it's very difficult in the long run to compete without those hugely important top picks.

That being said, Benning also has to hit on some later picks, it goes without saying but you can't just be good at taking the BPA in the top five.

During the late 70's and all thru the 80's the Quebec Nordiques had some good picks after the first round and even later in the first round. That definitely helped set them up to be a really good team for a long time.
