When Sather was GM I would agree with you. Now with Gorton in charge, even though Sather is still president, I'd like to see how he operates first before agreeing. This is the first time NY has had a "new" regime in close to 20 years. And I, for one, don't think Sather has last call on moves. Gorton would not have stayed if that were the case. Plenty of places would have pressed to hire him.

i don't really see the point in this trade for either side-sending an offensive d-man and a prospect for an offensive d-man? yandle and shatty are about equals in my eyes...why would the rangers give up a prospect to get the same player with the same contract issues? also haven't seen this rumor on any other rumor page...not likely to happen as far as i can tell

Shattenkirk in my honest is a hair behind say a mcdonagh. Moves the puck, he's mobile and on top of that he's much better than Yandle defensively. Anyway there is no way Gorton can be this dumb to include say Skjei or Buchnevich.
