The best part is we have three players that are better than any player the Leafs have ever had in their history.

Sedin, Sedin and Bure > any Leafs player in history

Not interested in Raonic until he beats Djankovic, Nadal or Federer or makes a Grand Slam Final.

We're the same Franchise, the Canucks and Millionaires are not. Kind of how the Wild and North Stars aren't the same.

The kid has got to get more focussed and consistent. He has the tools but seems prone to mental slips...

How many cups have you won since changing buildings? That's what I thought.

Hey, the Leafs have been horrendously and embarrassingly mismanaged for years, you won't find me arguing there. Ballard was a disaster and then there was mistake after mistake thereafter. I like the direction under Shanahan... draft skill, develop kids in the minors, hire a good coach. No saying it will be successful, but hell even a bad plan or a good plan executed poorly is a (frank) tonne better than the zero plan that the team ran with for the past decade or so...

Even after all the moves they are still battling for bottom 5. How can that be considered successful?

Because when you start at the bottom you don't get to the top in a year. The rebuild really started when they fired all the scouts plus Nonis etc, and hired all new people in to make the decisions behind the scenes. We won't be able to judge what Shanny is doing for at least another five years. We'll find out then whether it has been successful, but there's a lot of young players who people are very excited about. Rielly is looking really good already, Nylander, Marner, Dermott, Timashov look good... we have two recent CHL scoring race winners and a recent SHL rookie of the year on the books also. Even better is that by keeping most of them down on the Marlies, they're learning to play together.

Can't help that you uys got rid of Pat Quinn, that was your downfall. Talent is only that and we'll see how the draftees are in a few years.

All well and good, but the question will be if Rogers will give Shanny/Babcock those years or will their patience run out quick. If they go after Stamkos either at TDL or in FA, that's a huge indicator that they don't want to wait 5 years for everyone to reach their potential ceilings. Toronto is the quintessential media-driven "What Have You Done For Me Lately" market that isn't happy unless it's in the news 24/7 for good or bad. It's kind of like New York in that way with the Yankees or Chicago with the Cubs.

Yeah, getting rid of Quinn was dumb... JFJ was in well over his head and should never have replaced Quinn as GM, or been allowed to fire him as coach.

I'm hopeful about this batch of young players, but feel like we need some higher end talent on D. Rielly is just that, but I don;t think that we have anybody else at that level among the prospects, hence me wanting to take Hanifin at #4.... still, Marner should be a good player to have.

Surprisingly, many fans in and around TO have come on board with Shanny's plan and are seemingly willing to be patient. Having an AHL team packed with young players who are doing very well seems to help.

Also, while the media in TO is pretty bad, I wouldn't call the fans media driven... TBH most fans I know can't stand the majority of the Toronto media, and with good reason.
