I would have tried to trade down to about 9 or 10 as the players ranked 5-12 in that draft were pretty close just all have different games. Im sure he would have been there a couple spots later and if not I would have been happy with anyone of the other players there wasnt really a lock at 6 on who to take.

Although I strongly believe in building your forwards primarily through the middle, Jake just had a dynamic that not a lot of players had, size, speed and the ability to shoot the puck and score.

I think it's way to early to judge. I'm pretty happy Leafs got Nylander at this point. Don't think Virtanen will ever be a big point producer and it's harder to find guys that produce points compared to guys who are energy type

Both have potential to be great at their jobs but both also have small issues that could be nothing or could be problems in the future ... Nylander has had a pretty major concussion at a young age so you never know how it will affect him moving forward and jake has had moments where he has lost his composure ...the fact that he is young bodes well for him to grow out of that as he matures tho

This doesn't seem like a big deal to me though.
Connaugton slashed Lucic, he got pissed and decked him.
He got suspended.

Next time they play the yotes, maybe someone goes after Lucic, or another player.

Edmonton drafted those type guys, it didn't work too well. You need a mix of everything. We should also be drafting top 10 this year, we can go after first line scorer this year. Plus we have lots of cap space to buy a top 6 player

Or you can build a dirty big mean team yourself.

Running around seeking revenge does not serve us well, is a distraction and ends up playing into these types of teams hands.

Turning the other cheek largely works (when you have the firepower to punish teams on the PP), but infuriates the fanbase.

The other option is to fight fire with fire, draft JVs or the world, sign Lucic, get a big nasty Dman and allow Vancouver to develop the personality of a team that plays their own game, and does not get sucked into letting other teams dictate the game.

You are right about this for sure, you just made your original post by basing it off of something that had no meaning to yours. Yes I think one of our guys needs to get suspended for a game or 2 and take out Doughty. Show them that they no longer have impunity.

I was wondering who we take if we have the 10th pick. The top 5 forwards and top 3 Dmen will all be gone. No defensemen worth taking really at 10 unless you go with fabro he is around there in some lists. Will be between mcleod, dubois and guathier i think.

If no Dmen are around Im hoping for a big center or big scoring winger.
