I was wondering who we take if we have the 10th pick. The top 5 forwards and top 3 Dmen will all be gone. No defensemen worth taking really at 10 unless you go with fabro he is around there in some lists. Will be between mcleod, dubois and guathier i think.

If no Dmen are around Im hoping for a big center or big scoring winger.

Or you can build a dirty big mean team yourself.

Running around seeking revenge does not serve us well, is a distraction and ends up playing into these types of teams hands.

Turning the other cheek largely works (when you have the firepower to punish teams on the PP), but infuriates the fanbase.

The other option is to fight fire with fire, draft JVs or the world, sign Lucic, get a big nasty Dman and allow Vancouver to develop the personality of a team that plays their own game, and does not get sucked into letting other teams dictate the game.

Did I say to do that? I said go out and start it . I never said retaliate. In fact I have been saying for years to go out and do it to them before they do it to you. Have them trying to retaliate the whole game.

Teams are targeting the sedins too much so at this point I roll with it. I dont care about the roster spot. He can play 4-5 minutes a night and we can give the extra minutes to one of the kids. Sedins have never had any real back up on this team. Like Vantel was saying eye for an eye. Id have Kopitar or doughty out for the season.

Age should not matter, numbers are numbers.

Edmonton drafted those type guys, it didn't work too well. You need a mix of everything. We should also be drafting top 10 this year, we can go after first line scorer this year. Plus we have lots of cap space to buy a top 6 player

I think the Canucks were just looking for that type of player in JV ...maybe if Kassian became what the Canucks wanted him to become then you don't draft JV and maybe pick Ehlers ....

It will be interesting for sure. As of now we are the 7th worst team in the league if everyone plays 500 with their games in hand but we are getting healthy. Our forwards are small so I dont have a problem if they add a big scoring forward. If we do that id be looking at dmen with our 2nd and 3rd rounders.

Money changes how a player plays. He thinks hes crosby with his dangles, hes had a couple sick goals this year.

But we have had Sesito, Kassian, Alberts or whoever.

I think i hear what you're saying, although i'm not sure that Dorsett/Prust just throwing a flying elbow at Kopitar and getting suspended would have that great of an impact overall.

I think changing the makeup of the team (team toughness) would be more effective overall, and admittedly more difficult or time consuming.

If I'm a kings player and I know I can run around doing whatever I want then I will ...if I know there will be a response for my actions then maybe I don't go through with the cheap shot

This is a great idea in theory.
In practice, it doesn't work.
Why on earth would Kopitar/Carter or whatever skilled guy agree to tangle with a 4th line gooner.
All you would be doing is retaliating, chasing, taking another penalty and potentially putting the game out of reach.

No, you're missing my point. Ehlers has a higher ceiling then Virtanen but your trying to justify that pick because a 23 year old rookie is scoring at the same pace as a 19 year old one so it was okay to pick a less talented player because of that??
