How bad was Stralman when the Devils gave him a PTO and cut him? Rangers made some hay out of that, but he was never thought of as a defenseman with any offense to his game.
- dashripdot

He had offense to his game. 09/10 season with the Jackets he had 6 goals and 34 points. The Rangers used him in a more defensive role. Listen what's done is done.

Boyle was the big name, Stralman wasn't, bad evaluation of importance to the defense

So what Stralman scored 1 goal, he was also a (frank)ing catalyst, it's OK for Girardi to not be offensive but Stralman gets it held against him? I know we all have our favorites and I've defended Girardi for playing his position but come on, I hated that decision July 1st 2014 and I hate it even more today but that's Glen Sather, addict for the big name

- HankdaTank

Pretty sure he is part of the reason the cap was instituted.

I understand why they did it. But the signs were there when Boyle signed that he was deteriorating. Nobody, not even myself though Stralman would put these offensive numbers up. But look at Staal. Look at him when he a Stralman were a pair and look at him now. Doesn't look like the same player at all.

I just think you pay a little more for player that's 28 over a player that's 38.

- tomburton99

Don't forget the candy Sather gave Boyle, 38 year old with a no trade clause.......he was the GM for 15 years, hate the man with a passion

O boy, here comes the Stralman carried Staal argument all over again lol
- TPC

He didn't carry him, they both fed off each other. That's what a pair does. They compliment the other. Now it should be easier for Stralman because he's been paired with Stralman at times during his tenure as a bolt.

I don't mean to egg you on, but AV's thought process is lacking in that regard.

CSN NE reporting that Loui Ericksson is "certain to be dealt by the deadline." I suppose it makes too much sense for a swap of Eriksson and Yandle, but both teams want picks or prospects for their UFAs. Bruins know they have an inside track on signing Yandle in free agency, so why give up their best trade chip for him. Rangers could use a scorer.

I don't think the Rangers are in the market for another left handed shooting forward

They are SCREAMING for another right handed shot with only Stepan and Fast being righties

I was at the game after he traded Leetch. I thought there was going to be a lynching during intermission. Whole Garden was alive with the "Fire Sather" chant. They played with as much enthusiasm as a collective punch in the gut.

The draw back on Eriksson is that he's a bit injury prone and he shoots left handed.

I would love to list the big names he brought in during his 15 years and how many rings those big names won, his list of achievements as Rangers GM is dwarfed by the failed signings and money shelled out to undeserving free agents

That's the return for Brian Leetch.....Brian Leetch, let's not get into how that was handled, but the man did no wrong in 15 years, remember it's all rainbows and lollipops
