Yea unless you are the Kings, Blackhawks or Bruins...the last decade has been miserable - TPC
You know what I mean, Red Wings, Montreal of the past, islanders if you are over 40 know the feeling of having a consistent winner but its few & far between. I just LOVE hockey, the game & everything about it. Of course I want to win a (frank)ing Cup bad! But I know only 1 team out of 32 win it every year & the odds are pretty good I'm going to be really disappointed if the only joy out of a entire year is winning the Cup.

probably none of you are veterans of the old old Ranger blogs, late 90's, early 2000's, but I learned one of my old sparring partners passed away, Lenny Lofrisco, on the blogs he was known as LennyNYR, cantankerous old guy, Korean War vet, as negative as it gets, but insanely loyal Ranger fan.
Big time Sather hater like no other, even worse than Vin, and apparently he hated AV too because his last tweets were going at it with Carp about how AV needs to be fired all the way back in November and Carp was going back at him pretty good. And the team was good then.
Too bad they didn't win another one before he passed away.
This team is bad for our health I think - jimbro83
I still get choked up thinking about poor Cecille Sydel the old lady who was a die hard Ranger fan w season tix going back to the 50s & was brutally murdered just a month or so before we won the Cup in 94. Classy as always Adam Graves mentioned her in the lockeroom after Game 7. "This one is for Cecille" or something like that.

oh yeah, when you see all the flowers on her seat?
YOU JUST SEEM SO TORTURED by watching the Rangers, you get little to no joy out of it, why bother? You say its all about a Cup but you know it happens once in a blue moon, for almost all teams, NOT just the Rangers. So 99% of the time your going to be heartbroken if the only joy you get is seeing the team win a Cup. Its a game, its entertainment. I actually hate saying this cause I LOVE this team w a passion, so don't you for a second say I'm not a die hard fan. But at 39 w a family I'm not gonna have a coronary after every little mistake or loss. - B2B76
Never said your weren't a die hard, we're die hards in our own way, watching Rangers hockey for 30 years has made me a cynical pessimist, I love the sport too and when the Rangers fail I can't enjoy it

No offense Vin, but it seems even when they win now you can't enjoy it.

You had to have some satisfaction after last night. They played well apart from the rough stretch of a few minutes.

I see a 1st rd matchup w the Isles or Devils & its gonna be on. Now a 1sd rd exit coupled w it being one of our biggest rivals would certainly ruin my Spring break, that's for sure!

Right now I'm looking for more than just wins, I want to see consistent good Rangers hockey, they don't have to win very game but they have to rid themselves of games like Ottawa, late goals and goals that come in spans of 1 or 2 minutes like last night, that's the only way I'm going to have any confidence that things are really "turning around", I wasn't thrilled with last night's win

But even if they play that consistent good Rangers hockey, they may still lose. And then it's all about how this team is cursed and can't finish.
I think he passed away sometime in the late 90s. I would look it up by have no idea what his real name was.

The Chief[edit]
The Chief, whose real name was Robert Comas, was a fan of the Rangers who donned an Indian headdress complete with Ranger facepaint from 1971 to 1995. He became an unofficial mascot, "wandering around Madison Square Garden shaking hands, whooping and doing a war dance." Comas retired from his role as The Chief in 1995, one year after the Rangers won the Stanley Cup.
In 1998, Comas ran for public office as the Republican Party candidate for the State Senate in the 21st District, which includes Sheepshead Bay, Mill Basin and other parts of southern Brooklyn. When he was unable to gather enough signatures to make the ballot, the Republican party had no candidate in the contest. Comas did run on the Conservative line.[47] He managed to gather 3,255 votes, or 7.64% of the total votes counted, losing to incumbent Carl Kruger, who was convicted on federal bribery charges in 2011.[48]
Shortly after his bid for the New York State Senate failed, the Chief moved to Florida, where he resided until his death on September 17, 2009. He was 62.

A lot of the games they've lost over the last two months have been carbon copies, continuous mistakes exemplified in the Ottawa game
