I could definitely see the Rangers being in on Versteeg, he is apparently one of the 5 guys in the whole league who shoot right handed |

Aside from Risto, their defense isn't good. Plus the young forwards need time. - Anthony5967
yup. It'll be a problem for a while. |

Isn't it better if a Canadian team doesn't make the playoffs? Canadian teams earn their revenue in Canadian dollars, which means the Canadian playoff revenue would be less than the revenue American teams pull in. - RAGSareDANGERus
Quite possibly but from an interest perspective and to try and maintain the level of current cap, even if no ride, may be easier to sell it if a Canadian team made the playoffs. |

None of the above. Going to likely have to part with a draft pick. Not a single one of these players is worth even that. |

Right handed shot who's won it before. Could fit in the top 6.
He's okay...as I said, I'd prefer Vrabata. He hasn't won, but he's a right handed shot that can pick a corner. |

Montreal gets Price back they will get in; perhaps as a wildcard but get in nonetheless. |

Also a soft as pudding player, pass. Rangers have too many perimeter players as is. |

It's going to cost a second round pick at the very least, pass.
Let someone else rent him and leave in the summer. |

He scored 30 goals and over 60 points last year. I think he'd be a quality addition and his finishing ability is something we're lacking.
With that said, he's not exactly a game breaker. But he'd be affordable and there aren't many other forwards available this deadline. |

The problem with acquiring any of those guys is that they are rental moves that usually require trading a prospect. The Rangers have made too many of these type of moves the last few years and, therefore, they need to rebuild their prospect base. Before giving up something for any of the above players, I don't know why they would consider reaching out to MSL. I know I am harping on this, but I just don't see how in the Rangers current state, that trying to get an old hand that wouldn't cost the organization anything to play for a couple of months (understanding that MSL wouldn't fix the right shot issue]
Are any of the listed guys better than MSL? I understand he would have to get himself back into game shape, but he's always been a fitness fiend.

I don't think MSL will come back. He seems to be loving retirement. Helps Twitter is full of pics of him enjoying time with his kids and coaching their hockey teams. He loves it. |

MSL would be my number 1 choice too, but I haven't heard one rumor at all that he's skating or considering a comeback, there has been absolutely no word at all even to remotely get my hopes up about it |

He's not coming back for a full season and going through the grind. He is coming back for a couple months, a la the old Teemu Selanne path.

Neither have I. Just using the power of HockeyBuzz to plant the seed. Maybe Larry Brooks will latch on and suggest it.

It's an interesting idea for sure. Don't think the chances are high though so....Vrbata? |

Marty over any of the rentals proposed.
Have a feeling they will acquire Versteeg which sucks. |

A name nobody has mentioned is PA Parenteau. Not saying I want him. But he most definitely will be moved by Toronto has a pretty low cap hit and is a RH shot. |

I like Vrabata, but I am not sure I am willing to pay the cost. Like I was saying yesterday with Yandle, I think the price for these type of players goes up when you have an arm's race at the deadline. He will probably command a low first round pick or a combination of 2nd/3rds, etc. I am not sure whether I want to pay that price, which is why I keep harping on what I am harping on.
