They may have to eat something, especially with the Hawks, but it still gets prorated.
Trade deadline is 2/29 and last day of the season is 4/9
There's 185 days in the season.
So take Boyle's cap hit, $4.5M, and divide it by the total amount of days in the season, 185
He costs $24,324.32 on the cap daily. Multiply that over the remaining 40 days of the season between the trade deadline and the final day and, with no salary retained, he would cost his new team $972,972.80 on the cap for the remainder of the year, after which is contract expires anyway. - eichiefs9
What is up with you and all of these substantive post the last couple of days? You o.k.?

That, and I can't read the anger/misery circlejerk in the Isles thread after every loss (and also after every hour). The guys aren't wrong (most of them, anyway) but I just can't read the same things over and over.

Believe me, I feel your pain, brother. It's been like Ground Hogs day around here as well.

Isles thread and Rags thread have a lot in common recently...
Yeah but he doesn't lead with it or make it all about corsi, if the Canadian Dollar stays where it is or drops further the Rangers are going to have some serious consideration about buying out Girardi or Staal, personally I'd look to move Nash's $7.5 first, as for the 3 RFA's it's a tough decision but I'd have to go with trading Hayes....sorry Matt - HankdaTank
I'm not expert in the field of currencies, but I've talked to the currency folk in my office and their outlook is that the CAD has bottomed given a near bottom in oil prices

AV Squad episode , AV stating that mcilrath is not ahead of dan Boyle yet, hahaha! Good god. The only way he will play over Boyle is if Boyle goes down with a lengthy injury

Huge fan of Vigneault but I can see why Vancouver got sick of this movie.

Honest question, do we really think that a Coach with years of experience and success would make a personnel move that he thinks would hurt his team? He things that Boyle is a better option. He sees them everyday in practice and otherwise. He has forgotten more about hockey than we will ever know.
I think he is playing the 6 that he does, because he believes that they are his best 6, and he is infinitely more qualified to make that determination than any of us.

It's easy to know why he does it. It doesn't mean it's the right move. He plays the guy because he's 40, has won a cup , and he considers Boyle a veteran leader on this team and uses him 20 mins a game and plays top power play minutes. The fact that he plays more power play than Yandle is a downright disgrace. Yandle isn't Erik Karlsson but come on. Boyle shouldn't be in every game either no need for it. You all saw MSL run out of gas last year? You'll be getting part II with Dan Boyle.

Trading away Schneider and Luongo, for futures, has done a lot more damage than losing Vigneault. - MidnightMarauder
Exactly plus most of those guys prime careers are over. The defense is awful now. And he was up in that series to Boston and they couldn't close the deal. Close but no cigar.

That ship was sinking after 2013. Management has done a horrendous job over there, managing assets, probably one of the worst in the league recently.

I think the reason why Dan Boyle plays so much on the PP is for the reasons that Jim has stated several times on this blog. They lack a right handed shot at forward, so they are playing Boyle along the half boards to effectively attempt to given them a presence in the spot -- one times and otherwise. In away, he's not even competing for the same playing time as Yandle, IMO.
But, I do agree with a couple of points. Yandle should play more on the PP. And McIlrath should spell Boyle during the season.

But how is that Kesler LT deal working out for Anaheim? At time of deal, everyone questioned dealing Schneider not Luongo but pick they got, which was Bo Horvat, will pay big dividends in the near term. Luongo, everyone seemingly wanted him to be gone, but memo to all to be careful what you wish for (maybe Boyle turns out same way in playoffs or maybe that's wishful thinking by me).

Is he is worse coach because he lost Game 7 against the Bruins when his goaltender couldn't get the job done? The difference between winning and losing is slight. If his goaltender made the necessary saves and the Nucks won, he's a great coach. Because that didn't happen, he is somehow less of a coach. There are factors and luck that go into winning and losing -- luck, injuries, a goaltender stealing a game one way or the other, etc.

I like AV a lot but this is annoying. Dan Boyle is pretty much washed up at this point. Mc should be in there game in game out. Even if he rotated the 2 of them I could live with but to scratch DM for multiple games in a row like he has is really frustrating.
