Glass is about the closest thing we have to Shaw. I would prefer to get someone with more offensive upside than Shaw if possible though.
- RAGSareDANGERus

I ment his offensive number .. I think 9g 14a

that's just silly

I think Shaw is like a younger version of Dominic Moore actually

- jimbro83

Shaw is a tough a gritty SOB. I don't think Moore is a good comparison...id say Roussel or a young Chris Neil

I seems to be that acquiring a guy like Shaw, who is an RFA this summer, would just create more cap difficulties for us. I think the Rangers demonstrated with Hagelin last summer that they need to make tough decisions with guys that are approaching their $4 million type contracts, who don't provide a lot of offense. So, why would we acquire another one of those guys, and just create headaches.

Getting Shaw wouldn't bother me but something else will have to come along in order to obtain Yandle.

Dominic Moore is pretty gritty, especially when he was younger, but grit is more than fighting sometimes

But Shaw could be the 3rd line/4th line center of the future with Moore probably not coming back, he could score more than Moore but probably not as good on faceoffs

Agreed, Shaw is a much better player than that.

24 years old, been a part of two cup winning teams and wasn't a bystander in either.

Shaw goes to the net hard and gets a good amount of power play time even with the mighty Hawks.

Not watching is a possibility, my patience and faith is at an all time low, I've defended this organization all if my life, tooth and nail, I'm starting to realize I've wasted a lot breath, love this sport and font know how to be fan of any other team but it just feels futile

You know, hockey clubs rebuild. They put together their best efforts for about 5 years, sometimes longer. Rinse repeat. Thats how it works. The Rangers have put together a spectacular club, and IMO, they have rebuilt 2 times in the past 10 years. The Jagr build and then the build with this core. 30 teams do this. 2 clubs in the past 10 years have been able to build something that lasts as champions. Maybe really only 1. Chicago. They did it with a lot of great picks. They did it with a World Class Leader in Toews, and World Class Scorer in Kane, a World Class Dman in Keith, and a lot of supporting players. This kind of build doesn't just happen often.

Lets keep some perspective here. The Rangers built something that just keeps winning, we are 3rd in the east and 7th in the league in this "embarrassing" season. This build was just missing 1 piece probably. But rinse repeat and try again. Thats just the way it works. Its not an embarassment to get so close to the Cup as we have. Being a 1 and done winner is a lottery. Being a lasting Champion like the Hawks is building to perfection and happens even less often. I'm still happy with our club.

the one piece we were missing last year suffered a brain injury in round 1 unfortunately. we didn't lose because of bad management.

Not to mention, our Captain and best defensemen, was hurt and could barely even skate during Game 7 of the ECF. I understand that all teams have to battle through injuries, but the Rangers had some tough breaks last spring.

Grit I agree is diff than being a tough guy. Stephan Matteau (Sr) was an example, I mean who have some talent too.

I do think many of us are spoiled by a Presiden't Trophy last yr, Cup Finals 2 years ago, getting past the 1st Rd in the playoffs 8 out of the last 10 yrs. We expect the best now & slightly above mediocre where we are now is not good enough for most of our fans.

management gave the team everything it needed to win last year, they didn't mess up.

I get it but bottom line is winning the Cup and they don't have many more shots at this, they've made it harder on themselves with the moves they've made over the last two years, they were on the right path after getting to the finals, they decided to go in a different direction with some players that I don't agree with and can we just be realistic for once, this team is not as good as the one two years ago, they need help
