We should have held off until the offseason and put an offer out there for Saad

Weber has by far, outplayed Bogo as of late.
- CoHo_to_B-Lo

Not because Weber is one of my favorites but it could be said, he has outplayed everyone other Sabre dman in the defensive zone this year and at the blue line especially, where he is famous for tattooing puck carriers.
I'd like to see Weber given a 1.5 to 2 mill per for 3 years.
But hey, that's just me.

He seems to be having a down year and is 34 but i wonder if murray would have any interest in going after vrbata in the offseason.

If ennis is traded for a dman he could be a nice stop gap winger if we happen to draft one of the finns.

On a two year deal i think he could be a good fit here. So long as he doesnt pull a moulson and fall off the cliff.

Off topic, but I think Moulson should be a gentleman, realize he is horrible and retire. Get him off the books and have Uncle Terry give him a nice little bonus for doing so.

That is a lot of money, based on what stash posted the other day of a 5 mil per player only taking home 1.9.

Agreed as well but I remember it was near universally thought that Chicago would never let him go.

That is a very tricky one to go over though.

Chicago got back Anisimov, Dano as the main parts to that trade.

I believe they had been looking for a center for some time the past two years.

Anisimov was at $3.3M for this season although they immediately signed him to a 5 year deal at $4.5 after trading for him.

Dano had just come off a strong finish to the season and he had a lot of upside in many eyes.

If Buffalo had straight offered him $6M per, it would have cost a 1st, 2nd, and a 3rd, but it would have been in the 2016 draft, so you would have been banking on him being a better player then where the eventual 1st round pick would have been this year.

I am not sure what Buffalo could have offered as they would not have wanted Myers at his salary and term and Stafford would have been a rental for them.

I also don't think Ennis would have been someone they wanted, and just picks and prospects like Armia and Lemieux were not going to get it done, which means it would have had to been a straight offer sheet.

Let's say 6 years at an AAV of $6M per was enough.

It comes down to a question of if you'd rather have Saad than one of the Finn wingers, even though there's a chance he would have helped them not be picking in the top 5.

Yea moulson and his contract have become a real albatross. He defenitely isnt going anywhere for the remainder of this season seeing as how he and his wife are eichels live in parents.

Not sure what the future holds for him, if he cant bounce back next season maybe they waive him hoping some team searching for the cap floor will pick him up. I dont know the numbers would work out to if they bought him out but that would seem to be the only other option.

Eichel better be looking for somewhere to live as soon as the season ends.

The best thing that could happen to us, is someone takes him in the expansion draft.

I think that would've been more likely, given Saad's production on a team just as bad.

Stafford would have been gone, that trade happened in the offseason.

Hypothetically we could have offered one of our 1st, and a roster player like Ennis along with a prospect.

You then could have moved Myers in a separate deal

I remember a discussion before the season started where a few posters guaranteed we would be better than the Leafs.
