Gionta has lost a step. He can never get around the d. I agree with the others on your list. - SabresPanacea
He mostly does it on the forecheck; that I've noticed anyway, but you're right he has trouble getting past defensemen. Also how could I forget O'Reilly?

Agreed. It's almost the opposite as the previous regime.
Darcy drafted Miller, Pommer, Roy, and a few others in the later rounds, but missed on some 1sts - sbroads24
After watching Spooner's play as of late, if that rumor of us turning down Boston's offer of him for Stewart was true, you can add that to the list of blown opportunities.

We need to find a gem or two in the later rounds like other teams seem to find. Gaudreau, Toffoli, Josi, Barrie these guys are out there but what do the Sabres ever find and develop, Marcus Foligno? We can't build a team completely on top 5 picks, it will never get done, just ask the Oilers and the Islanders. Pegula is paying a lot for our scouting staff and giving them everything they need to do the job. It's time to see some results with all the picks we've been making recently. - sskkoo1

Not sure any of them will be Toffoli/Josi/Gaudreau level. But i suppose they said the same things about those players at one point. |

I hope this statement represents the hope that it happens and not an indictment of something that hasnt had a chance to happen.
Ottawa has churned out some good young players that murray had a hand in drafting, not all of which came from the first round. I think in time you see the same thing start to happen here. |

These guys are all to be determined, but I have high hopes for them. But, what I'm saying is if we are going to have a successful rebuild and become a contender in the next few years than it's a must that some of these guys do pan out. We have 11 picks already this year, 10 outside of the first round with more to come after the trade deadline. That's an awful lot of chances for our scouting team to find a late round gem, it's time we get our hands on a Gaudreau.

Still want to see Pysyk with Risto for a bit. I'm going to keep saying it just like I did about Eichel and Girgensons together until it happened. - HonkFortheGoose

I hope it happens. It takes years usually for mid round picks to even get a shot unless they have crazy good camps |

I'm getting the sense Bylsma doesn't like him as much as I would like him to.
I don't think Pysyk is a #2 by any stretch, but he certainly can perform to Bogo's level, and can play the left side. |

If given the choice, I choose the gm that hits the first and second roundrrs over the gm that picks Marzapan in the first (but gets a fourth line player once in a while in the fourth round).
*This is hypothetical....not to be seen as indictment of previous regimes, and not to represent previous or future gms of our team, nor to bear any resemblance to anyone associated with our team, living or dead.* |

I don't know what it is. Maybe he's trying to spread out the talent a bit. But at this point, I think it's more than worth a shot. Pysyk deserves to be playing more than the ice time he's been given most of the season. |

Even so, he's getting the least TOI of any defensemen last few games he's been in.
I don't get it. He hasn't been great, but he hasn't been a liability like Franson has been on occasion |

schedule competition is about the same
point is there is no reason to assume fasching is going to be anything special at this point in the nhl |

Fine line between special and Corey Tropp. I think he's a legit NHLer, don't know about top 6 though. |

The goal is last with a top 4 pick, without being called out on tanking like last year. Murray has this team playing perfect hockey, they're competitive but still lose. We have two big holes still to fill, a top line defensemen to play with Risto and a scoring winger. Picking top four fills one of those roster problems.

I highly doubt the goal is to come in last. I think after the all star break teams like Toronto, Carolina, Edmonton and Winnipeg will come back down to earth so to speak. By the end of the year the Sabres will start to find there gel and look forward to a bright year next year. I could care less where we finish. There's talent all in the top half of the draft and with the incredibly stupid and frankly insane top three lotto this year I'd rather be pleasantly surprised with a higher pick than likely disappointing when and if we did come in the bottom one or two and end up picking 5th or 6th... |
