The 9th overall pick was more than fair value for Schneider at the time. Goalies generally don't fetch that much on the open market, and Gillis was not dealing from strength as everyone and their dog knew he had to trade one.

Bo's 20 years old. Let's revisit this in 7-8 years.

Exactly. Schneider has had much more time to develop than Bo. As much as Schneider may be a Vezina candidate there will be a day where Bo is a Selke candidate. We did just fine in that trade and like you said more than fair value for the time. Technically Schneider was still a backup then.

He'd never played more than 40 games? BTW, rumour has it that the Oilers offered more. It could have simply been their draft pick which was higher. I think they drafted Nurse?

I remember calling the trade at the time. I was on the phone with my brother when NJ paused at their pick, and told them it was gonna be moved for Schneider.

Sedin-Sedin-Sutter
Baertschi-Horvat-Hansen
Etem-Vey-Virtanen
Drouin-McCann-Dorsett

I wouldnt mind those lines after trade deadline

Drouin would make it work in Vancity the way Baertschi has... earn his minutes and show every1 he isn't a petulant child the way the former organization made him out to be...

He's the future #1 left winger for Vancity and the price is only dropping for this guy. We got Baertschi a top 6 winger for a 2nd... we could end up with a future #1 line player for something similar...

if lightning need a dman, i'd hand them any one of sbisa, hutton, or hammer, prust and a 7th rounder...

What is everyones plans to fix the defense? People not wanting too trade prospects for D and now trading D for another forward.. We have one of the worst Defenses in the league and nothing in the prospect pool that projects to anything more than a bottom pairing Dman. This team is going absolutely no where until defense is fixed and because they take longer to develop so this needs to be corrected before we start adding forwards.

Unless the plan is to sign buff(or another top D which there are none) and resign hamhuis in the off season this club is doing absolutely nothing.

The Oilers offered the 6th pick and that's def. not worth trading in our division. Let's phrase he question another way...who would trade Bo for Schneider right now? I certainly wouldn't. We have two solid young goalies and would be in serious trouble without a blue chip center prospect like Horvat.

Soooo how does everyone feel about Edlers game last night? That was a hell of a line change he had on the winner ! Looks like he takes his skates off and lazily walks to the bench on every play. Sure is a great mentor for our young guys isn't he

From a tanking position, Edler is awesome.

Edler played great.
Saw him keep the puck in with a quick stick several times.

We have to many barts already

Great ? That's an interesting comment. A great defenceman in you're eyes is someone who can keep the puck in a few times with a quick stick? Wow

Was that last goal a deflection off Bartkowski or did it go straight in?

Did you watch the play? Did you see Edler bail out on his position, slowly skate to the bench cutting off his teammates....the same position he vacates is where Neal skates in an scores the winning goal???

Wasn't sure if Edler lost his stick on the play too? Looked like another sloppy line change. I think he was chasing the forwards that were going off on the line change, looking for a stick.

Looked straight in to me but still...even if it was deflected a bit by bartkowski that was a wrister from 30 feet out glove high...either way Miller has to have that.

That's really not the point. His team was changing...far side d man has to be the last guy to change in that situation to prevent what happened. The other team catching you far side on a line change for a goal. Defence 101. Edler fails the test again

Didn't Edler hurt his hand on the developing play? Gotta head to the bench and get that looked at dude...

I'm talking about the play as objectively as can be ....tell me where I'm wrong on th play that cost us the game? He did bail on his position...he did lazily skate to the bench and the winning goal was scored from the position Edler should have still been defending. That's what happened, it's all on tape. Who's not being objective???
