Over a dozen teams trying to sign Brandon Tanev. Here is hoping the Canucks have a small advantage.

There's no way.

He came from a nice fam his dad was my gym teacher in highscool and he definately is no dummy. He fuked up made a bunch of money in the process

Well. He got busted is what happened, i'm sure lots of players use PEDs, especially those on the tail end of their career that are on expiring contracts and hoping to get one last kick at the can.

Maybe Hammer can learn from this!

I'd expect a trade/signing of a top 4 Dman if that was what JB had in front of him.

Edler/Tanev

Hutton/Biega

I've liked what i've seen so far, but they need to produce at some point.
As an RFA next year, what would you do with Etem?

- dbot

Honestly theres not much we could do but sign em both cuz it doesnt look as if WD is goin anywhere.

The only UFA top 4 is Buff and he will be expensive and risky.

Trade: what are you giving up to trade for a top 4 Dman? Bo a first and what else?

Hamhuis will not sign a 2 year 3 mil contract . As much as he loves you and me, I am sure he loves his family more and want as much money as he can get for as many years as he can get.

This is why you need to expect a Bartowski Gryba Biega type signing.

If Hamhuis isn't back, and I know we have heard Biega will be with the club for the rest of the season and likely resigned, but if he isn't, and Bart and Weber aren't back, that would leave a lot of opportunity...

I wouldn't mind rolling the dice and seeing what is available in the summer, I just don't think JB likes the idea of the unknowns, afraid he won't be able to find a hot dance partner.

Did you think we were going to compete for a cup next year? I think we are going to miss the playoffs next year at least I'm hoping that's the case, I've given up hope on missing the playoffs this year.

Don't be surprised to see Bartowski back. Just as you say JB knows what he is getting with him . He is still young and even though most don't like him here , he is reliable. That is why he is in and Weber and Pedan are not playing

Campbell, Yandle, Russell, Goligoski are all available as well.

I agree that I hope Hamhuis is moved for a good return and don't want the team to commit long term to him but I would feel a lot better about the teams development of prospects with Dan on the team.

Bart hasn't been bad as a bottom pairing guy. doesn't sound like a ringing endorsement. He looks lost at times in his own end, loses his man, and often he looks great rushing the puck through the neutral zone and then he crosses the blue line and is lost. great skater though. looks like he is trying to be more physical. we have certainly had worse bottom pairing guys in the lineup.

Too bad Hutton isn't a righty.

Campbell super old and way too much money

Yandle won't be worth 6 mil

I don't expect Goligoski or Russell to reach the UFA market

Bart will cost 1.75 mil . The team will allow his few brain farts.

dbot, I agree with you on pretty much everything youve said about D today.

Hammer is on 33. Sure he's not the same player entirely but still decent. We are better with him than without him.

I see the argument that spaces need to be open for youth or a UFA, but with the lack of prospects in our pool on D that argument is weak. There's no guarantee we will successfully sign a UFA that could fill hammers spot. I dont like taking a chance of having an even weaker D next season. Incredibly risky. Even a 1 year, 2-3M.

Hammers play is sufficient but his greatest value I think comes in teaching the kids.

I dont' like the idea of having no vets to school the kids that come in either, and even though Im fine with edler Id rather have any tool-age be from hammers vast experience and gold winning pedigree than edler. I think THAT is an opportunity. Its not everyday you get a chance to have your kids schooled by a recent olympian from a gold winning team.

But ultimately JB knows best, he will make the right decision. We can only wait and see what happens this summer.

Russell will, and some GM will get a good deal for him IMO.

Cal has UFA's Hudler, Jones, Hiller, Ramo, Russell and
RFA's Gaudreau, Monahan, Granlund and Colbourne.

Unless they can jettison Wideman, and even then, I think they will be hard pressed to resign Russell.

Dan Hamhuis would you like to go play for Dallas Stars 4-5 years at 5 per or come back to the Canucks and play 2-3 years for 3 mil because you are from here or within 500 km

But Russell is a small Dman so we might as well bring up Subban.

That had crossed my mind.

I only want to throw big money at difference makers that are still young. Players that will help us for years and years . Otherwise stay the course and Draft and develop.

Don't tie ourselves down with bringing back Hamhuis for four years.

I have also got off the Buff and Lucic bandwagon. When I said bring them in , I had no idea the youth of the team would have been so good so fast. So I retract Lucic and Buff.
