i almost feel like they're trying to tank
- 2Real

We'll see at the trade deadline. We were closer to a playoff spot last year and they dealt Coburn. If they deal Streit...

I have no doubt that the tank is on. Hextall was probably beside himself when they got within two points of a playoff spot. (kinda just kidding)

I like Hakstol and the job he is doing but these decisions do make me nuts. I don't understand why he won't give Weal a few game look. Umberger-Laughton-Gagner? really? meh
- nastyflyergirl

I'd like to see Weal play again, because I really am not a fan of Gagner. Weal was put into a tough spot, and it's hard to make an impact on the coach in a short ice time, when you haven't played much. Weal just didn't do anything to impress, even if it wasn't really an ideal situation. I'd like to see him get some more chances.

As bad as Josh Innes can be, I would rather listen to him yell his point for 4 hours then listen to that condescending yoyo on 97.5. He just rubs me the wrong way.

Honestly, after a 6-month period where I refused to listen to him when he said Mason was afraid to play in the playoffs, I actually really enjoy Innes. Yeah, he's a Richard, but he's funny to me, and he openly trolls his own show. He also tells some fans "how it is" so to speak and really just doesn't give a (frank) (as evidenced by his numerous suspensions). That, and Mikey Miss had to have his brother call up Innes and fight him after they had a spat.

Umberger and solid top-4, market-priced defenseman Andrew MacDonald for Toronto's first and a 5th.

I believe Rob Ellis found out of his demotion via Crossing Broad. I remember when Gargano left and they had Innes and Ellis on together. That was some cringe worthy radio right there.

they have to deal streit and get something of value for him
i would consider dealing simmonds for a monster package montreal has to be getting antsy since they're in a free fall and there might be pressure to make the playoffs

Completely off topic, and I don't want this to become PoliticsBuzz, but this thing is Oregon is getting way out of hand.

That's exactly how I am. I also couldn't care less that he isn't from "Philly" as some callers do.

Bill,

What are reports of guys like Martel and Bardreau?

I have watched a lot of phantoms and to me they seem like guys who could fill in the bottom 6 with skill and still be solid two way forwards. I think Bardreau could be a good 4th line center and pk player.

Today was the first time I heard anything about it in a couple weeks it seems. My first thought was "if a federal building is occupied and nobody cares, is it really occupied?" lol

I for one thought Weal made some very nice plays that warranted another look. Except for forcing RJ to go offsides. He should've known better than to make a skill play. RJ forgets what that is sometimes....

Turn off the radio and go download a podcast. They talk more Flyers hockey then all the stations here combined.

MvW had Travis Hughes on the other day. There's not a "sports" radio host in Philly who knows who he is.

- mayorofangrytown

alternatively, NHL Network on Sirius XM is aight. Everybody outside of Boomer and Laughlin is pretty lackluster, but there's nobody displeasing to the senses on there, and everybody gets decent interviews.

I thought Weal did a decent job and want to see more of him. He had no shot to make it in LA with the talent they have but to not get a shot here has to make him mad. I just want more speed and skill in the lineup. I liked a few shifts Weal/Laughton had together.

I know Laughton hasn't exactly lit it up and has not been good defensively but throwing him out with 20/89 and all that means is more 76-78-25 than we should see *sigh*.

It is curious that Manning (and I don't hate him like most) gets plenty of ice time when he plays but Weal can't get into the lineup and Laughton gets such little ice time. I know Hakstol is there to win and not develop kids but there comes a point when it would be nice to see kids get a real look

I wonder how much other GM's would value the chance to dump their dead weight on the Flyers so they can free up cap space for themselves for the stretch run... Flyers currently are projected to be able to absorb ~$8-9M worth of driftwood.

Ohlund, Ott, Torres, Khudobin, Backstrom (G), Bickell, Kindl, etc?
