Gee Dave, I've been posting here since 2007, never heard that one.

Wait, the above is just as sarcastic as my prediction.

When I was watching it was Neito and Zubrus and Karrlsson. Insert Tierney. Still a line with more talent and chances to produce, in the west which I think is bigger and faster than the east then the Flyers can throw out.

I really hope that after the deadline we can start to see a shift off players. I think you can bring up guys that are projected bottom 6 guys and let them develop at the NHL. I think it's different if it was a kid defenseman or someone you expect to play top 6 minutes.

If they aren't disciplined, this will get ugly in a hurry. And I'm really tired of that blank stare on Hak's face after the guys he sends out to kill penalties get scored on again and again. How did Ryan White have a minute more SH TOI than Matt Read on Monday?

Hextall talked recently about how they need to get PK fixed, so he may have to step in and make some changes if the current coaches can't figure it out.

They should get trounced tonight.

As such, they'll win 4-2 with an empty netter

Every angle you look at this game from adds up to a loss. I just want the Flyers to play a good game, and compete. If they lose because they're playing a better team, so be it. Don't play poorly, take bad penalties, etc.

Can't wait to see our feeble pk work against the caps.

I'm sure Ryan White will be out there, you know...just sort of skating around in the general direction of the puck, more or less, doing stuffs.

And even when you break their numbers down, it's hard to find anything close to a weakness. They are #1 in power play, #1 in combined special teams, #1 in even strength goal differential and #1 in fewest 5-on-5 goals allowed. Above-average on faceoffs, top one-third in most shots on goal generated and top one-third in fewest allowed. Holtby has matured into a top-flight goalie. Trotz is an excellent coach. The lineup is deep, top-to-bottom.

The Flyers had better hope 1) they play one of their best games for all three periods, because a single bad period against this opponent can be all the difference, 2) Caps are rusty from their long layoff and perhaps a bit disenterested/ complacent in the final game before the All-Star break with a huge cushion in the standings.

To do it with Couturier in the lineup would be tough regardless. To do it without him and with both goalies nursing something or another makes that much tougher.

Yeah, I don't see this ending well this evening. But I'd love to be wrong.

There's an associated press article that I found on csnphilly about Vinny LeCavalier's resurgence. When asked about retiring he sorta wavered on the question and said he just wants to focus on the upcoming game blah blah.

What happens if he decides not to retire? Do the Flyers still pay half his salary?

This could get ugly tonight.

With that said, watch them win 4-1.

theres a small footnote at the bottom of the trade agreement where Lombardi agrees to do Hextall's laundry for a year if Vinny doesn't retire

I know this is off the Flyer subject...Let's Go Flyers...but I just realized how close Jagr is for all-time goals and points!

I believe 5 more goals to pass Golden Brett and 16 points to pass Mr. Hockey. That's pretty damn amazing, especially that he can still produce at his age. It seemed almost impossible to catch Howe, but it took 2 beyond incredible players to do it. To have a player that is a non-dynasty Oiler is history in the making. Absolutely NO ONE will catch Gretzky, but there is still a slim chance for Messier.

Just wow.

Yes Flyers will be on the hook for $2.25mm. Better than $4.5mm for 2 and better than the 4 year cap hit on a buy out

If he does not retire, yes, the Flyers will still be responsible for half of his cap hit.

IMO, Hextall knows this team is not going to make the playoffs and also knew this would be a transition season for Hakstol. The current assistants will not be renewed and Hak will then have more leeway to bring in the assistants he wants.

The Flyers are going to get steamrolled tonight if they take penalties. I can already see the Caps going 3/6.

As much as I agree with most posters on here that the bottom six, especially Umberger, have not been contributing lately and that the PK is costing them wins/points, some of the guys on the back end have been terrible in recent games. Gudas' play IMHO has been significantly worse than most of his counterparts...the icing in Toronto which cost the Flyers at least a point, two turnovers along the wall leading to the Bruins winning goal, constantly trying to make a big hit and taking himself out of position. To say that he's a top pairing defenseman is symptomatic of the lack of depth on this team and is what I see as the major problem moving forward.

I'd bet barring injury, he would be over 2000pts at this point.
