And even when you break their numbers down, it's hard to find anything close to a weakness. They are #1 in power play, #1 in combined special teams, #1 in even strength goal differential and #1 in fewest 5-on-5 goals allowed. Above-average on faceoffs, top one-third in most shots on goal generated and top one-third in fewest allowed. Holtby has matured into a top-flight goalie. Trotz is an excellent coach. The lineup is deep, top-to-bottom.
The Flyers had better hope 1) they play one of their best games for all three periods, because a single bad period against this opponent can be all the difference, 2) Caps are rusty from their long layoff and perhaps a bit disenterested/ complacent in the final game before the All-Star break with a huge cushion in the standings.
To do it with Couturier in the lineup would be tough regardless. To do it without him and with both goalies nursing something or another makes that much tougher. - bmeltzer
To break this down, to win will require more than a perfect effort.

Kuznetsov hit the powerball. Him, OV and Backstrom are taking the night off to party.
It could happen. |

to be fair, you asked if three players were considered elite in his mind, he replied with a name and no. I think that means that no, he doesn't think that one player is elite... - funmaster18
YES! I can't believe I was asked to paint a picture with my original response. |

I guess they want a bigger body out there skating just behind a Capital player while pinned in the defensive zone? - MBFlyerfan

and with williams, and now richards on the team, it's a guarantee that the caps will finally win a cup. |

Stastny, Parise, and Suter are not, and never were, superstars.
Now a Rolo... - 77rams
NHL marketing only allows for 2 SuperStars: Crosby & Ovechkin. They're starting to gravitate toward Kane. Parise couldnt be a SuperStar because he was a NJ Devil and Don Lou put the Kibosh on that. Now, for the rest of the hockey loving universe that have functioning brains, YES, Parise and Suter are elite, superstars. I will say Parise is waning, though. |

I'd just like to see OV in the finals to see if on that stage he can raise his game. |
