If the Flyers win more games, they will have higher points which may put themselves in a better situation to make the playoffs. |

That's what I hoped he would be, but then he keeps increasing Ryan White's SH ice time despite the fact he's objectively terrible at killing penalties, and we have other options like Raffl, Read and Laughton sitting on the bench. Which is nonsensical.
Unlike most people, I'm not nearly as worried about the 9 minutes or less he gives Umberger. That's not what's killing the Flyers playoff chances. It's the PK. - Feanor
I'd love to see after Coots returns (I'd bet post all star break)

The only thing there is your top 2 pairs are also your top 2 centers so after a PK you are rolling Laughts line which could have those 2 wings. So your lines are totally screwed. |

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Flyers play well tonight, and maybe even win the game. Wouldn't surprise me to see them blown out either. LOL. Better stay out of the penalty box. - MJL

He's not close to being an ineffective player
I hope he plays til he's 50 - Just5
Wouldn't bet against him, he doesn't seem to be slowing down, in fact, he actually looks better than he did last season.

Chelios played 26 seasons, would have been 27 if not for 04/05. If you count the WHA, Howe has the record. - jmatchett383
Correct, between the NHL and WHA, Howe played 32 seasons. That is (frank)ing unreal.

I wouldn't have heard more than 5 seconds of it. I can't change the dial quick enough when they come on. There's really just one album of theirs that I can tolerate and it is Reckoning. My dad bought it back in the day. Not because he is a GD fan, but because he is a fan of acoustic music and my uncle told him about it. I must've heard that album a few hundred times in the early 80s. lol |

80 games for Hartford at age 51?! Ridiculous - Scoob
Funny story:
That season, I got to see him play live for the first and only time at the Spectrum. About halfway through the 1st period, Al Hill hit him from behind. Being a big fan of Gordie and knowing his playing style, I knew that Hill was in for a world of hurt. Later in the game, they were both on the ice together and within a few seconds Hill was out cold on the ice, courtesy of a patented Gordie Howe elbow. He was also smart enough to do it behind the play so he didn't get a penalty.
He was an unreal athlete. Not only did he play 81 games, but he took a regular shift on their 2nd line and played on the PP. He put up 15 goals and 46 points which was pretty good for a guy who was 52 by the end of the season. |

Warriors are the best team in sports right now beating the spurs by 30 points. The Warriors are Philly's true basketball team. |
