Having watched multiple games that Fasching played in...I must offer that he looks to be a good NHL prospect. Not top line material, but at the same point he has a lot of size, decent speed and very good hands for a big guy...last I checked he had 11 goals in his last 12 games. He's a junior now so he should definitely be producing, but after a slightly down year he has come back in a big way. Can't say I like giving away what we did, especially the 2 seconds, but Des is certainly not the high point of this trade. |

Sure. Unless it's a pure hockey deal, NHL player for NHL player, it's extremely hard to properly judge a trade immediately. You could just as easily say we dominated the ROR trade.
I don't see Grigorenko working out as an NHL forward (I was rooting for him all the way until the trade) but Zadorov is likely tracking to become a top 2 or at very least top 4 dman in the future if his mental issues are resolved.
At the moment, yep, we're losing. But just the fact that it's possible for that judgement to flip based on the main piece not even entering professional hockey yet is encouraging. - TheSabresTaco

Tavares has 34 points, Jack has 30.
I'll tell you what, I don't follow the Islanders but that seems really low for him. Maybe they need a player like Moulson back to get that spark - Zschalberg
Well... no. They both have 34. Jack's better on the PP. |

I totally understand that this players would rather rest than play in the game. But, the NHL is a platform that allows Towes and Ovi to earn 10 million dollar a year salaries. The all star game, although boring as heck to adults, is a great gimmick that gets youth interested in the sport. Sometimes in life your employer will ask or tell you that you need to volunteer for things you just don't want to do, but it's part of the job. This is no different, Towes and Ovi need to get their butts to work if they're not really injured. - sskkoo1
Define injured, though. Each player probably has some little nagging pain that they just play through since the games matter. But if the game doesn't matter, the thought of resting that small injury probably makes more sense than playing.
I agree that it's a gimmick that is made to get different demographics to watch. Should they play, yeah. Do I blame them for not playing, no. |

My bad, I was looking at that article about Sam and Jack and it must have been from before the last 2 games. My mistake. |

Tavares also has played 6 less games.
I love Jack but let him rest up during this break so he can keep his ppg going in the last 20 games...
If he does he finishes at 66 points...I'll take that all day everyday.
Next season I don't think 80 points is out of reach at all for him. |

Especially if he gets a winger that can keep up with him or keeps this chemistry with a player like Girgensons. |

Seguin didn't Seguin all over the place till year 4.
He was a .596 ppg player in Boston. |

Sabres win the lottery.....
Do you make the pick or trade for a hefty ransom? |

Lots of "Matthews for OEL" potshots out there... would be tempting for sure. |

My daughter came home from an optional term at college. 735 miles in 13 hours 15 minutes.
5 cups of coffee; one bag of grapes; one bag of caramel chocolate popcorn (the wife's idea); an apple, and three balogna and mustard sandwiches (eggsalad and chicken salad go bad).
One of those cups of coffee was in a donut shop while I waited for my daughter to finish getting ready (I left ROC a lot earlier than I thought I would). That added about 25 minutes to my day. - Der Kaiser
729 miles from my house to the parental units... takes me anywhere from 10 to 12 hours depending on mushrooms and painkillers. |

Exactly. What I meant was, he's going to break out in year two like Seguin in year 4. |

I would love MAtthews. Can you imagine having both faces of USA hockey on the team.
Eichel and Matthews.
HATTY! - ImThatGuy
Matthew has broken all of PK88s records for th US developmental team
He's gonna be a beast
But I'd be totally ok with one of the Fins also
We should (hopefully) be getting one heck of a player in this draft

Having only read various scouting reports and recaps of WJCs, I'm pulling for Laine...some of which is due to his size...6'4".
That shot looked a lot like Backes to Ovi!
Hopefully the kid has some serious wheels to keep up with Jack. And I do think Rasmus would be a perfect fit as a complimentary player.
I wouldn't mind seeing Ennis given a shot either....if he is still here next year. - IonSabres
Only an inch taller than Puljujarvi, similar weight
He plays a bit more of a "power game" though
Puljujarvi is smarter & a better skater, more NHL ready
Both GREAT prospects |
