He and Eichel are pretty similar in size. - nfph
They are, but Eichel is much stronger and in much better shape. And in 2-3 years will probably have 15-20lbs on McJesus. |

Again i didnt say he should not win, you have to account all of the factors though. Its not all about point totals. It is who the most impressive rookie is. To me an 18-19 year old kid out of college, playing with scrubs. Compared to a 24 year old who has played 5 years of pro hockey and playing with the best hockey player in the world makes a huge difference. If YOU played on a line with Kane this year you would have 20 points. Playing barefoot with no stick. - CoHo_to_B-Lo
Now thats a bit overboard. Panarin has legit skill and while i would say playing with Kane will certainly boost anyones stock, I would argue that he has helped Kane in his success this year |

I know that, I am being extremely sarcastic. Like i have said numerous times. To put up the points that Panarin is, you have to have skill. I'm just saying when it comes down to it for the Calder you have to take into account his age, pro career already, and linemates. Compared to guys like Eichel, Domi, Duclair etc. who are playing with scrubs and still producing at a high level. Larkin too, very skilled, has Zetterberg. |

Domi would probably get my vote at this point in the season. Playing extremely well, has the point totals and has his team that finished next to last, in the playoffs. |

Luke Adam looked great next to Vanek and Pomminville. If those two can make Adam look good, Kane and Anisimov can make Panarin look good, right? I'm not saying he doesn't have skill, but does he have more Adam-esque skill or is he a serious threat like the others that are in the running? |

I don't think Luke Adam was ever close to what Panarin has done. Adam had chemistry with those two for maybe 10-15 games? Panarin is on pace for a 65-70 point season |

No. Hes a serious threat with legit skill. Watch him |

Panarin is out due to his age and KHL experience.
It's Larkin vs Eichel really. Eichel will finish higher in points, Larkin will likely finish higher in +/- and even strength points. Larkin plays with Datsyuk and Zeterberg. Eichel plays with Moulson and Gionta. Eichel will have 5x the highlight reel plays. Who will win? Don't know, but there is no denying Eichel is having far more actual impact given what they are playing with. Just hard to say what the voters will look at. |

He was more impressive on TV for me than seeing him in person. I didn't even notice him at the Sabres game, but thats one game. And again, i agree he is highly skilled. Just don't really think he should win the Calder. |

NFL stars are fleeing the 2016 Pro Bowl in historic numbers, the culmination of a trend that should prompt serious discussion about the future of the all-star event.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the official number of players either voted to the Pro Bowl or added as an alternate had reached 133.
That left this collection of quarterbacks for the game: Wilson, the Oakland Raiders' Derek Carr, the New York Giants' Eli Manning, the Buffalo Bills' Tyrod Taylor, the Minnesota Vikings' Teddy Bridgewater and Winston.

Agreed, i think this break only helps him.
Also:
I wish Gostisbehere started the season in the show. Awesome to watch and couldve possibly had his name in the mix too with another 20 GP under his belt - yen6d1
Agreed. He's a local boy with him playing at Union.
Their D could be scary good in the not so distant future with what they have for prospects. |

Looking at the list of potential free agents this year and I gotta say it actually looks pretty good. Alot of needs could be filled if we can offer attractive package (overpay). Would love to see us sign one of Goligoski, Russel, or Demres. and I think Backes could be the perfect veteran presence for this team. Could be a great fit - MCGUIZZY
Agreed on Russell, Demers, and Backes, and I would also throw Boedker as well.
My only worry is that the contracts of Gionta, and more so Gorges and Moulson, will hinder their ability to overpay without hurting the team down the road.
Question: do you consider Hudler with how he showed he can produce with young guns already? I don't think I do. |

This is straight homerism, We win the lottery and McDavid is better than Eichel and we never think about it twice.
McDavid will be a star in this league. He was on a PPG pace entering this league. He too will gain muscle. its not like Eichel is going to grow and McDavid is gona be like "Meh im good, no need to get better"

Lol. Sorry, the NHL is still far and away the premiere hockey league in the world and it isn't close. I don't, and won't, feel blessed that some Ruskie graces me with his presence. Unless your name is Mogilny or Ovechkin or Bure I'm not going to be grateful. You want to win in the best league in the world you come to the NHL. If not, have fun in Russia. You won't be missed.
And it does matter if you are in a professional league. The rookie of the year trophy is supposed to be exactly that, rookies. If you're playing Pro hockey at the highest level and then come to the NHL you aren't a rookie. You're a first year player in the league, but not a rookie. If he was in the AHL for 4 years and came up as a 24 year old doing this then sure, ROY. But in Russia, I don't agree with that. - Zschalberg
Just confused about the second paragraph after it was said that the NHL is far and away better than the KHL and it isn't even close.
That would say to me it is a pretty big jump in competition and he would be a "rookie". |

I don't buy the argument that he is only successful because of who he is playing with. I hate even more the argument that "player X would be having the same season playing on that line". (I know it is not just you who has said this)
If Kane is on pace for his best season yet, why can't it be said that it is because of Panarin?
Edit: late |

I think 2 of those guys could potentially be bought out/traded..so im not too worried there. Love the idea of Backes as our 3rd line center although he may not..
Hudler is interesting. His experience alone would be pretty valuable. Depends on what his demands are but I would consider it.
Boedker could be a really good fit as well considering his age. I do think he will be resigned tho |

Isn't there a limit on bought out contracts? 2 comes to mind. From what I remember you can have only 2 on the books at any given time. |
