I've had one since 2009 that still runs extremely well. Its more expensive up front but it has lasted longer and functioned at a higher level for well longer than any PC laptop I have ever had.

Since Intel took over making processors for Mac it all works well. There is a minor difference in the file tag (e.g. .ppt vs .pptx for mac for a powerpoint file). The only potential issue is software that isn't supported by Mac - though that is more rare these days it still exists for specialized fields or video games.
