Hextall got rid of VLC, amazingly two of the worst contracts in the league still remain. - PLindbergh31
We also had Pronger, which was $4.92M for a guy who's already retired (more or less). 2/4 moved in 6 months isn't bad.

I think he's going to get some talk, but Larkin, Domi, and Eichel will get their votes. Heck, McDavid could come back and get into the talk. If Ghost had been playing all year, he's have a much better shot.
I think he's pretty much a lock for the All-Rookie Team, though. - jmatchett383
I agree but it just blows my mind that he's 11 points away most those players with 20 less games and as a defenseman. Awesome stuff.
if carcillo can get his suspension reduced to 6 games i can see wideman getting then then appeal and get it reduced to 5 - 2Real
40.2 Automatic Suspension - Category I: Any player that injures or tries to injure an official gets a minimum of 20 games. The rulebook defines "intent to injure" as "any physical force which a player knew or should have known could reasonably be expected to cause injury." So if anyone tried to pull a Chris Simon on an official, he can't then claim, "I didn't know it could hurt him like that." Actually, he can, but his claim won't be taken seriously.

It's a shame a good deal of the infancy of Hextall's GM tenure, is being spent with a shovel following around Holmgren as if he were a circus elephant.

My favorite parts of the John Scott Tribune article...very good btw:
Does that make me an elite player? God, no.
Thank you -- at least someone can admit they're not elite. I think Jake Voracek would do really well for himself if he wrote a Tribune article like this proclaiming his lack of eliteness. He needs to be honest with himself.
But at the same time: this isn’t Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I’m not some random person off the street, and I didn’t win a golden ticket to “play hockey with the stars.” I won an internet fan vote, sure. And at some point, without question, it was a joke. It might even finish as a joke. But it didn’t start as one. It started with a very small pool, out of a very small pool, out of the very, very smallest pool of hockey players in the world: NHLers. That was the vote. A fan vote, an internet vote — but a vote from among the 700 or so best hockey players in North American professional sports.

The whole situation is so franked and makes the NHL look like a complete clown show.
Wideman deserves the benefit of the doubt in my opinion. He was clearly concussed, and has no prior history of such behavior. Calgary's medical staff should be hung out to dry for letting him back into the game while the NHL should see some heat as their concussion protocol is clearly a joke.
To add fuel to the fire, Henderson finished the game yet had to go to the hospital after the game ended for neck pain/nausea where he was held until 5am today. What. The. (frank)
