Its rather concerning to me that the linesman finished the game then spent the rest of the night in the hospital. - JFlyers
In Novemeber, I was in a minor car crash on the way to work at around 7 AM. About 5 hours later, my head started to hurt, my neck got super stiff, and I had trouble focusing. Turns out I had a concussion, but the symptoms didn't become apparent for a few hours. |

Seems like he head 2 optionsL
Option 1: Bump into him and skate around him
Option 2: Violently cross check him in the back
Clearly Option 2 was the correct call. - jmatchett383
I don't think he realized that it was a linesman that he ran into. Its very possible his vision was blurry to top things off. And like I said aggression is a symptom.
I've seen athletes go ape poop crazy on trainer, players, coaches, or even family after getting a concussion.
I'll try and find full video. I have a train to catch and I avoid this dumpster fire of a web site when I'm on mobile. |

So just attacking an unsuspecting player with a violent cross-check from behind and not realizing it's an official makes this better? If that's the take, then he should be suspended 10+ games for trying to inure a player. |

If you watch the full video, he goes to the bench after the hit like nothing even happened. He was obviously still dazed when he sat down.
But yes, he finished the game. Wideman finishing the game along with Henderson raises some serious questions about the NHL's concussion protocol in general.
I agree with your thoughts though. He's either gotta take that suspension or throw his teams medical staff under the bus. Its entirely possible they followed protocol though.

My eyes tell me he was dazed when he hit the linesman, but I can't say I know anything for sure. Neither possibility is ok though, it was either terribly undisciplined or terribly unsafe. |

Can anyone please tell me why Gagner is getting no love whatsoever? I mean yea last nights first goal was his fault, and even tho the puck was fired at him, an NHL player should be able to cradle or direct it in his own zone. Regardless, the guy clearly shows flashes of offensive skill and thats what we are lacking. Give him 10-20 games and see what he can do, were on the bubble anyway and probably wont make noise in the playoffs should we get there. why let him figure it out somewhere else next year if he can figure it out here for a modest cap hit.
- sjk540
Gagner is a one way offensive player, who has scored 1 assist in his last 15 NHL games this season. What "love" does he deserve? I don't blame Gagner for that goal. I did however not like both his and Umberger's efforts on the 3rd Caps goal. |

I'm just glad to know that it should be okay to go around 2-handing players in the head as long as you're woozy, because it's not really your fault. |

I love Shea Weber more than anyone else on this board, but there was no way he shouldn't have been suspended for that. |

But I agree...I absolutely cannot stand how big of an influence an injury to an opposing player goes into disciplinary actions |

If I ever need to kill someone, I'll make sure I get knocked in the head first so I can tell people that it wasn't intentional, which makes it okay. |

You're right, he is a one way offensive player. teams still have success with these types of player. either putting them with 2 two way players or sheltering their minutes, etc etc. we've scored more goals all year than only one team in the league. maybe a little one way offense is what we need. the 2nd power play unit is in shambles, cant even start the cycle. why not put him in Girouxs spot on the second PP. he's right handed, creative, has a solid shot, and has been in this league for plenty of year to not be rattled by being on the PP. its not like that unit can get any worse. keep streit as the qb, gagner and couts on each half board, put read at the dot and raffl in front. its not gonna be the same makeup as the first line, but you need some offensive skill out there. what manning is doing on that unit ill never know. |

2 things:
1. A one-way offensive player has to be able to outscore his defensive shortcomings. That's why it worked for a guy like Briere but not Akeson. Gagner is not even close to Briere's level.
2. The Flyers don't have the depth to shelter him with 2-way players unless they hamstring his offensive game by playing him with plugs like VdV/PEB/White. |

Your crash wasn't recorded and displayed to millions of people... There's no possible excuse you can give to justify Wideman and Henderson returning to the game. It was pretty clear to me that both parties should have sat at least the rest of the night. |

It does not. He still should be suspended but not penalized as harshly or painted to be this total dbag...
He has no prior history of anything like this that I could find. And it's not like he's a rookie |
