Fun story out of the Allstar scrum, when Duchene asked what did he change in his game to help increase his scoring compared to the start of the year.
Said that Sakic came up to him and told him to switch his curve, recommended playing with a Sakic curve instead

matthews did not impress me at the jr.s
I prefer what we have, if we can add oel, it's a wet dream - homiedclown
I am confused as to what about him didnt impress you. I will concede that he didnt really have a 'wow' factor but seemed to be everywhere at the right time. Besides ndelkovic who kind of stole the show, he was USA's best player.
This is a tough one in my head because both options would have so much potential for either team. It would have to be a pick swap plus OEL. If if arizona isnt picking in the top 5, add more picks.
The only thing more exciting than drafting first overall in your own building, would be making a blockbuster and still getting to pick high in the first round. |

I would rather have two Eichel's - MCGUIZZY
Me too. I think a top 2D is hard to find, but I like Eichel's skill set too much to turn down a second player with similar potential. |

Did Eichel wow at the WJC? Last I remember Sam was the one who looked good while he was playing against Eichel. |

Slightly reluctant to sign him at that much with Moulson still here. If we bought Moulson out I would do it. He would certainly be an upgrade - MCGUIZZY
Totally agree.
Moulson is the key to them signing any of the FA forwards, like Boedker or Ladd, unfortunately. |

with oel and risto, you have that d needed for a cup for the next ten years
plus with ror and eichel up front as centerpieces
skunk, girgens, kane as side pieces
bogo as a second pair d man
guhle in the pipeline
lots of goalies that could be ready in a few years
you build for the cup with 3 centers, top d pair
oel, risto, ror, eichel, skunk, gus
that follows the formula - homiedclown
Good points
OEL would really lock up our defense quite nicely
Very tough choice between him & Matthews
Can't go wrong either way IMO

What i mean is eichel had 'wow' moments whereas matthews was steady and continually found himself in the right places at the right times. He didnt really jump off the screen to me. Larkin jumped off the screen in that WJC too, even more than eichel did. I would obviously still take eichel over larkin.
Other than the world juniors i havent really seen matthews, which is unfortunate because with eichel in college and mcdavid in the OHL we were able to see alot of them leading up to the draft.

2016 1st, Pysyk, Ennis to ANA for Hampus Lindholm and their 2016 1st. Throw in another draft pick if needed to get it done. - SabresPanacea
Not to be rude, but are u outta your mind?!
We aren't trading our 1st round pick this year
Did u mean 2017? |

risto/free agent
bogo/mccabe
pysyk/gorges
kane/ror/skunk
free agent fast player/eichel/girgens
foligno/larsson/ free agent fast player
deslaurers/schaller/gionta
buy out moulson
package ennis plus for a winger or that one d man
use the draft to get best player available - homiedclown
What we do with Moulson is the key there
No clue what Murray is thinking
Right now, I assume we are gonna use the pick to get a winger
But that could all change too
I do like your trade for OEL idea
In a perfect world, trading down a spot or 2 so we can still get a stud winger and get back a good, young defenseman would be ideal

No I think that's what he meant. If that trade happens today you have, barring the lottery:
IN
Lindholm
9th Overall
OUT
4th Overall
Ennis
Pysyk
I don't agree with that trade since I feel the talent drop after 5 is enough, but say we're at 6th overall by the end of the year. I still don't do it but it's not completely out of line. |

I feel like if you're drafting 2 or 3 and you want to trade down 1 or 2 and still be in the top 5 to get the winger the most you're going to get is a prospect/2nd-3rd pairing/pick. We keep saying the picks at 2-5 are pretty close so unless you win the lotto, which right now we have a 9.5% chance, no one in the top 5 is going to try to move.
Edit: http://nhllotterysimulator.com/ in case you want to play around with this again. I got us picking 2nd overall the first time which would be great. However, not currently up to date since Toronto is below us in the current standings |

For the draft...
I think there's a dropoff after Matthews, but not a huge one
Then the 2 Fins, and there's another dropoff before u get to Tkachuk, Chychrun, etc |

Honestly, if we don't get matthews or the 2 fins, I take chychrun. Clear top line d man material. If we win the lottery and columbus REALLY wants #1, their pick must be top 3, and they throw in werenski. |
