Just got around to reading John Scott's article on the player's tribune....

I realize he has never been a great player...but what the NHL did to him is despicable

I feel bad for Jon Scott in that he's the center of attention in a way he doesn't want to be at all.

However, anyone who says this was about anything other than smart-ass fans mocking a system just like Rory Fitzpatrick in 2007 or even Girgensons last year is kidding themselves.

I voted for him. Really wanted him in there. And not for a joke .If the so called stars won't make it seem like a real game instead of a glamour outing. Maybe we wouln't have to vote the John Scotts in there.Why not have someone that busts their ass to get there.

Why not just work in a bye like the NFL does. I don't think it would hurt if the NHL took five teams a week midseason and gave those team a 5-7 day break in the schedule.

They are. Starting next year every team gets a bye week with no games or practices. The announced it when they announced the change in format of the allstar game.

the NHL should just drop the ASG as nobody really watches or gives a crap.
Keep the week off for the players to rest up a bit.
And i agree the playoffs should end in May.
Maybe the 1st round should be best of 3
2nd round best of 5
then go best of 7

that would shorten it by like 2 weeks...which is getting better.

I think they should do a rookie game. Older players get to rest. New guys go out there at least half giving a poop, maybe to prove something or just have fun. Fans still love it, nhl still makes money. BOOM

They already did that. They called it the Young Stars game. And they got rid of it for some reason. It was pretty decent. Certainly no worse than the actual all-star game itself.

My dad spent 32 years of his life there...retired around 2004, I think.
