There has been a lot of talk ( 1040 generated) about Hamhuis to Pens. The other thing also is you could trade for a 2017 first.

They don't really have much prospects and the team would be another year older.

I was actually done at 1:10pm today and they told me to go home I said well there's probably other things I can do for tomorrow, they said nope, then I'd have to put in for overtime at time and a half lol. No wonder there's no money for our seniors!

This reminds me of a joke.
A war veteran applies to a civil service position.
During the interview.
Interviewer: Sir looking at your resume I see you have all the qualifications that we need, however since we are government agency we need to fulfill certain groups. Can you tell me more about you?

Interviewee: Well I served in the Afgan war and was awarded a medal for my sacrifice.

Interviewer: That is really good, it puts you in the war vet category and we need to have atleast 1 person on our staff that has served. I believe this position is yours. But before we do any paperwork, we need to know if you have any allergies, or injuries that we should be aware of.

Interviewee: I am severely allergic to coffee and it is not a disability but during my last deployment a roadside bomb exploded near me and I lost both of my testicles.

Interviewer: Well those are definitely not the issues that will hold you back from doing your job. Congratulations, you are hired. You can start tomorrow from 10-5.

Interviewee: Thank you but I thought the job description had a start time of 8am and finishing at 5 but you want me to come in at 10?

Interviewer: Well for the first 2 hours we just stand around drink coffee and scratch our balls and since you are allergic to coffee and have no balls you might as just come in at 10.

Vrbata and Hamhuis are not worth a first , but that doesn't mean there isn't a GM dumb enough to buy .
- VANTEL

If Vrbata's goal production was up...maybe.

It's not that I wouldn't take a first for Hammer I just don't think there is a dumb enough GM right now to give up a first for a slow aging injury prone DMAN that put up no points. But hey I guess we would take it.

If Hammer plays solid in his return GM's will pay a 1st (overpayment). Vrbata is no longer worth a 1st. If you got a 2nd for him now you'll be laughing. Wonder what Weber is worth. He sure has been great this year....plays a ton...
If they could get a 5th back (gone to mtl in prust deal) that be the best they could do.

Prust tops out at a 4th probably too.

Pitt can't afford Hammer. If they make playoffs their 1st goes to T.O. Doubt they would move their 2017 1st. 3 str8 years of no 1sts. (perron last year)

How does getting hit in the face with a puck make you injury prone? Look to Washington for this. Trotz will sell the trade to his gm for us. Hamhuis doesn't need to get 1 point to be of value to a contender. He just needs to play solid d and stiffen up their bottom pairing. Same thing most clubs do that are predicted to go on a long run. Even if it's just insurance against injury....teams need 8 good dmen to win a cup.

Lu on Hockey Central. Funny guy.

Another example of how the canuck organization (frank)s up just about every relationship it's had with it's star players. Mindboggling.

☝This.
Hamhuis would slot in to the top 4 of most playoff teams. Most posters on here under value him by a significant margin. Then do the same with Edler and vrabata. The fact is we treat them like the flavor of the day, look no further then the 2 games that miller stole us points on the last road trip, he was bombarded, lots didn't say anything about him, then bam he plays a solid two periods let's in a last minute goal and all of a sudden is 3-4 goals against miller time in this board even though the day before we were raving about how good he was playing.

A top 5 defenceman( I can't think of a team where he would slot in below that) with his experience and safe level of play who could come at up to half price is worth at least a 1st round pick from any contender.

It's surprising how little respect the guy has. Just in the Pens thread and some guys are calling him useless. He was on the olympic team in 2014. His skills have not deteriorated that much in two seasons.

He's also one of those 'team guys' that GMs and coaches love so much. If it wasn't for his injury he would be a hot commodity at the TDL.

I am hoping Hamhuis is even more rested and recovered from all those other nagging injuries players often have to deal with. He had some groin issues previously, maybe this rest has helped with that too.

Just not sure how long it will take for him to get into game shape, get back up to game weight, after not doing much for well over a month.

Pens fans wouldn't know what talent is if it came up and smacked them in the kisser.

They still think they won the Bonino trade

Yes and no. Hammer has only ever played one full season for us and even with his return this year he is slated for less than 50 games. less than 60 last season...see the pattern? When players become injury prone later in their careers like Hamhuis problems will find them...like the puck in the face thing. crap happens. His deterioration over the past few seasons has been rapid IMO. To the point where he wouldn't slot in top 4 on most clubs that 'might' require his services. And points do matter. To win in the PO's you have to get some form of contribution from ALL players in the points department. In the past hammer would contribute now and then now GM's look at him and go wow...4.5 mil for just an aging Dman with no points? Early 2nd round at best. I just don't understand why so many are overvaluing him here. Love for the old core I guess...

I was a season ticket holder during Lu's time in Van. To be honest I don't remember one instance where Lu was booed at Rogers. I remember when Lu got the hook one night and Schneids got a huge cheers when he got on the ice but that's not the same as booing your team's #1 goalie.

Lu was a whiner for years here. He only changed in his last year and a half.

Does anyone remember the quote " Well I did my job" or " my contract sucks"

He also choked in big games.

Too bad he only grew up in his last year, otherwise he would have been a fan favourite

Agree big time playoff choker and was almost every bit of a dressing room problem like Kesler was. You can't change that by growing up in the final year here.

Maybe all the Lou lovers here should move to FLA and clean Lou's wife's pool.

I guess my question would be...when has he ever been counted on, by anyone....at any time for points? His best offensive seasons he was less then 40 points. Yet he was chosen by team canada to represent this country in the Olympics. Did they do that because of his amazing offensive abilities? Nope it's always been about how he plays without the puck for hamhuis. He hasn't deteriorated near as much as you think. He was just playing on a crap team with a poop partner every night. He will get a first and a prospect ... You can take that to the bank. If he doesn't I won't mention how poopty. Edler is until the end of the season.

I was looking at the Oilers blog about Would You Trade?

Would you trade Tanev and Bo for the first overall?

I would. I would take Mathews over Bo and with our first round pick I would take the best RHD available or best D

I would never consider trading Bo until he's in his 30s. No way no how.
