Whereas Lidstrom emerged as the guy we know today, Konstantinov and his partner Fetisov ( who probably also could have been a #1 in his youth) were the premier pairing. Like it or not, the Russian Five was the Wings best line. They were simply amazing.

As I said, Konstantinov is probably the best example of Russian d, actually could defend and played physical. I agree he and Fetisov were an unreal pair and he was a legit 1D in his day. My only point was that the "second" pairing happened to be 2 HOFers

Sure, that's what happens with elite teams. Look at the Habs big 3, even the Ducks with Pronger/Niedermeyer.

Any time you have 2 of the top 10-20 D in your lineup you're doing fine.

Chychrun's skating has been impressive, not great decisions with the puck though.
Juolevi, Day and Bean have also looked pretty good. This is not me picking on you Vantel, but other than the penalty I haven't noticed your boy.
