If NHL really wanted to make All star weekend a huge splash they should add that every team has to make one transaction between Thursday to Sunday. Either by trade , waiver or straight out release. A get out of jail free card. It would need NHLPA approval but as long as the player being let go still gets money then they should not complain. |

It would certainly add excitement to a very stupid weekend. Fan interest would be off the chart
On Thursday every team must hand in their player that they will move so other GMs can Wheel and Deal to try to trade if they want. By Sunday each team must make at least one transaction.
If a guy like Gaborik was going to be released another team could try to trade before he hit Free Agent Status, or they could want and hope to pick him up on a million dollar contract after he was released |
