Purcell has been great for the Oil. To an extent that he might get a new contract with them. Obviously not at the price he currently has tho so not sure how that works.
What would the Hawks give up for a rental like him? Their first rounder? Seems steep, but a second seems to low as well. |

Well if everyone is going to make fun of Edmonton, I may as well join in on the festivities and suggest stupid unrealistic and extreme measures.
Solution:
Cancel the new arena, fold the team and send their players to every other team's AHL club where they can relearn the team game before they're allowed to step foot on the NHL ice again!
In an ironic spin, the rest of the teams will pick their Oiler player of choice through... yes, a draft lottery.
Only then will the league will be saved and all will be right in the hockey universe again! - jreimer17
So, basically, 10 teams would get former 1st overalls. I like it. |

Oilers are in last place but 95% of their roster is "untouchable" just like every other season...one of these years, something special - flashfire
According to whom? There's maybe 5 players I wouldnt trade...then again if it knocked by ginch off my ass how could I refuse? (frank)in Flames fans |

I find this interesting.....Edmonton may be in tough now, but who was the last Canadian team in the Stanley Cup Final????? Not Montreal, Vancouver, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Toronto, or Calgary...It was Edmonton.
So with all of the great plans all of these teams have had - the team that has had the most success, if you measure it in coming close to winning the Stanley Cup, since the lockout...is EDMONTON.
And the most likely Canadian team to win a cup, is once again - EDMONTON!! |

Schmaltz + 2016 1st + Svedberg + Bickell in a sign and trade for Buff. Buff 2 years at $6 mil. Math works with about 2.5 mil in cap space currently and Bickell's 4mil off the books. Then Buff gets another contract at 31 years old after two cups with the Hawks. Cup prediction aside, what do you guys think? |

Actually Ottawa was the last Canadian team in the Stanley Cup Final, in 2007, the year after Edmonton. |
