I've heard Donavan has been playing great in Rochester
Wouldn't mind seeing him called up for a few games if there's injuries
I'm kinda over Colaiacovo - jdfitz77
I really thought we'd see Donavan by now. I think if we gave him some time with the Sabres we'd might be able to move him to a team looking for playoff depth. Weber and Donavan for a pair of 4th round picks wouldn't seem too bad. |

I've noticed a few posts about picking up a top 2 D and a top 6 forward in FA.
here's what's available atm and makes sense for the Sabres.
Andrew Ladd, 30, LW ...in the case Moulson is gotten rid of.
David Backes, 31, C ...Quite the upgrade over Larsson. Doubt the money will make sense though.
Loui Eriksson, 30, W ...A solid 2nd line piece right there.
Mikkel Boedker, 26, W ...Another solid 2nd line piece more within the age grp than the above. Only reason he doesn't return to AZ is if he really has a disdain for them.
Kyle Okposo, 27, W ...make sure he's got a good center and you've got a reliable 55-65 point guy.
Then there's McGinn who I'd love to have back at a reasonable price.
Free agent D class is weak.
Roman Polak, 29, D ...great bottom pair upgrade.
Keith Yandle, 29, D ...Would be great to get an offensive defenseman here.
Alex Goligoski, 30, D ...Can play reliable top minutes.
Then there's Buff, but let's all be honest, he's not coming here. |

I'd rather have picks at this point. There is nobody on this list that is a genuine difference maker. |

I've heard some people say no to Yandle and I don't see why. He seems like he could be an answer to our top pairing problem with Risto.

Only thing with yandle is if u land him u have to adjust expectations for ristolainen (more defense less offense) |

See, that's where you're misunderstanding what he said and what his role is.
He provides the list of players for the coach to utilize. Sending a guy to the minors or trading them is within that job description.
How the coach decides to use those players, is another thing, which is where the Pysyk comment comes in.
Pysyk was available for Bylsma to use. He chose not to use him. Murray didn't agree with that decision but said he doesn't tell the coach which of those players they have to use. - HonkFortheGoose
when he said myers is not being shopped, and myers is traded a few days later....
I don't believe what he says
again, not a bad thing |

I like your thinking, but I think we're still a year away from that kind of move
IF we could get one of the above names that would be great, but I don't think we're a team that top UFAs are going to consider... YET

You're built too low, kid. The fast ones go right over your head. Maybe you got a hole in your glove. He keeps pitchin' and you keep missin'. You gotta keep your eye on the ball. Say ... Eye ... Ball ... Eyeball! There's another one!

I wouldn't be opposed but we have a lot of depth in front of him, so it would definitely have to be an injury. I'd probably call up Ruhwedel before him. |

You take things way too literally. Just because a player was traded doesn't mean he was being shopped. He very well could have just ended up having to use him as part of that trade. Doesn't mean he was actively looking to get rid of said player. |

It's now official: Alex Biega has received a new two-year contract as a reward for his solid performance on the blue line since being called up at the beginning of December.
It's the first one-way deal of his career for the 27-year old.
Good for him... I didn't realize how "old" he was.
Thought he was in his early 20's for some reason.

Eriksson Reportedly wants too much money. Of this list Yandle is the one that I'd want most. I'd like to look at the draft for that winger and hope that Moulson can try to do something next year on the 3rd line. If he can't you cut your losses and move on. |

I think it really depends on how we finish the year. If eichel continues his rapid improvement, reinhart comes back and continues to improve and lehner shows throughout the rest of the season that he is the real deal all while finishing with a top 5 pick it could happen.
Maybe wins and losses dont meant as much to a FA under certain circumstances. They have already lost 14 games by 1 goal, i think 3 of those are shootout losses. That isnt taking into account games they have lost by 2 because of an empty net goal.
I think they could see that and understand what a difference one or two players could make. Especially if they land a big fish early in FA, that would change the game.
Winning half of those 1 goal losses would have them in a playoff spot right now. |

NHL.com is still failing at one thing IMO.
They still fail to post up to the minute transactions.
All I see anyway on the site is "trade tracker".
I'd like to be able to read more about promotions/demotions etc. on the very site , NHL.com that I should be able to read these types of moves on for all NHL teams.
I should not have to navigate to a different site for this information.
It's my only gripe with the new site. |

We had approximatively 40 or so goals (20ish each) expected out of Moulson and Ennis. I feel like if those two just did what they had been doing in previous years, we would be looking at an entirely different team in the standings.
Not disagreeing with you, supporting your argument.

Honestly, if anyone expected 20 goals from Moulson I think they were reaching in the 1st place. He barely produced getting 1st line minutes, and top PP minutes last season. Ennis I agree
On the flip side, did anyone expect a 65 point pace from O'Reilly? Or a 50 point pace from Risto? We are where we are because of extremely slow starts by Kane, Ennis, Moulson and Girgensons
